Book Beginnings and Friday 56 for February 22nd

Welcome to another edition of Book Beginnings and Friday 56.  This week's book is Arsenic and Old Puzzles by Parnell Hall.  I just reviewed it, so if are are interested, follow that link.

Here's the first sentence:

"So, when's she going to walk?" Cora said.

Yeah, not the best opening sentence.

So, now, turning to page 56, we find a sudoku.  So I'll go back to page 55.  Don't worry, I'm really not spoiling anything with this.

"Oh, no," Cora said.  "Don't tell me."
"Tell you what?" Charlotte said.  "What's wrong?"
Edith's eyes widened.  "Oh, no!  Is he dead?"
"He's dead, all right," Harper said.  "And that's not all."
Harper whipped out a handkerchief and used it to carefully hold up the crumpled paper that had been in [the man's] coat pocket.
It was a sudoku.

  4. The clues in this series often do come in the crossword puzzles and sudokus left with the bodies.

In general, it is a fun series. This book wasn't quite up to par, but I normally like them.

    And Gilion, thanks for following.
