September 11th's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

I'm so glad it's Friday.  I don't want to go into work today.  Certainly ready for the weekend.  But before we can get there, it's time to do Book Beginnings and Friday 56.

This week's book is Move Your Blooming Corpse by D. E. Ireland.  This is the second in the Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins Mysteries.

The book comes out on September 22nd.  I was fortunate enough to get an ARC, which I'm really enjoying.  I'll have my full review and a giveaway on release day, so be sure to come back then.

Here's how the book begins:

A high-pitched scream pierced the air.

Doesn't waste any time, does it?

And on page 56, we get this gem:

"If I'd known they were going to have us arrested, I would have hit him over the head with my picket sign."

That's it for the week.  Hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend.

  1. Great opening. Peaked my interest. By the way, what was the scream about? :-)

    1. I can't tell you that. You need to read the book and find out for yourself.

  2. I like that it starts with a scream, not a lot of build up, and the 56 gives a taste of humor, which I enjoy.

    1. And the series has a nice dash of humor. There is a little more build up than it looks like here, but there really isn't much in this book.
