September 9th's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

We've made it!  It's time for this week's Book Beginnings and Friday 56, which much mean it is Friday.

But before we get going on that, I'm going to do a little shameless promotion.  I've relaunched First Line Monday over on Facebook, this time as a group.  The idea is still the same - on Monday, stop by and share the first line of whatever you are currently reading.  All genres are welcome.  No promotion for your blog, just the book you are highlighting.  I hope you'll stop by and join in the fun each week.

Okay, on to this week's book, which is Get Fluffy by Sparkle Abbey.

This is the second in the Pampered Pets Mysteries.  This series is a bit unique in that it alternates between two cousins as the main characters of each book.  Which helps explain the first line:
I am nothing like my cousin, Caro, the "pet shrink."

Yep, Caro was the main character in book one, and this time around, our main character is Mel.

Jumping ahead of page 56, we find:

She flinched under my embrace.  "You think I need a lawyer?" she squeaked and pulled away.  "I thought you said the police thought it was a robbery."
"Think about it.  In less than a week, Jo, Cliff, Tova, you, and I have all had some type of altercation with Mona.  At some point, the police are going to want to talk to you."

I finished the book on my lunch hour Thursday, and I really enjoyed it.  Assuming I get the review written, I will be posting it next week.

Have a great weekend!
