May 3rd's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

We've made it to Friday!  That means it is time for this week's Book Beginnings and Friday 56.

This week, I'm featuring Dying for Devil's Food, the newest Cupcake Bakery Mystery from Jenn McKinlay.

This book in the series finds main characters Mel, Angie, and Tate attending their 15th high school reunion.  Of course, murder shows up as well.  Here's how the book begins:
"Squeee!"
At the screechy noise, Melanie Cooper squeezed her pastry bag too tight and frosting shot out of the tip into a big glob on top of the cupcake she was decorating for a wedding the next day.

And jumping ahead to page 56, we find:

"I thought you gals always went to the restroom in pairs."
"We didn't this time."
"Well, I hope you've learned your lesson.  There's a reason you're supposed to go in pairs."

This book really is so much fun.  I'll have a full review (with giveaway) up on Tuesday, which is the book's release day.

  2. I keep meaning to start this series but haven't made time for it yet. This week I am spotlighting Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer. Happy reading!
