March 20th's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

I couldn't believe it's been two months since I last checked in with a Book Beginnings and Friday 56.  I think it's time to change that.

I'm going to be pulling quotes from Abstract Aliases by Ritter Ames.

Here's how the book begins:

We stood across the wide moonlight river from Big Ben, in the prime spot for viewing London's New Year's fireworks extravaganza.  the jubilant crowd jostled and shouldered its way to fill every inch along the Thames, more than a half-million people crowding into every open space around us this clear cold night.
It's a bit weird reading that right now, isn't it?  But the book came out a couple years ago.  Who would have thought we'd be where we are now?

And here's from page 56:

"Maybe Simon was trying to kidnap you.  That's why he posted the rear guard."

I really enjoyed this book.  Look for my review on Tuesday.  Meantime, happy reading this weekend.

  5. I read one book in this series a few years ago and was kind of meh but I like the sound of the teasers (though just the idea of being in a crowd right now is kind of crazy!) so maybe I should try it again.
