Ornament Review: New Year's Celebration - Happiness is Peanuts All Year Long #6 - 2013 Hallmark Ornament

Stars: 4 out of 5
Pros: Gets you ready to party in the New Year
Cons: Would have been nice not to repeat Snoopy and Woodstock
The Bottom Line:
Get out party hats
Celebrate ‘nother New Year
With Snoopy and friends

Ring in the New Year with Snoopy and Woodstock

New Years parties are quite popular as friends gather to ring in the changing year together.  And Snoopy and Woodstock want to be part of your plans for this year and years to come with New Year's Celebration.

This ornament is the sixth in the Happiness is Peanuts All Year Long series and features the two friends partying as the clock strikes twelve.  Snoopy is holding a red banner that says, “Happy New Year.”  Woodstock is blowing through a green noise maker.  They are both wearing party hats as well – Woodstock’s is blue while Snoopy’s is blue and green striped.

How do I know they are celebrating as the clock strikes twelve?  Well, they certainly look like they are partying.  But I have a bit of a clue in the background that comes with the display stand for the series (display stand sold separately).  The card for the January ornament has a yellow background with confetti falling across it.  Along the wall is a clock set at 12:01.  And in the background are three other yellow birds, Woodstock’s friends, to help ring in the New Year.

Part of me really loves this ornament.  I like Snoopy and Woodstock celebrating, and the design perfectly captures that.  I also love the background since it shows a much bigger party going on.

But part of me is disappointed by it.  Since Snoopy appears in the series four times, it would be nice if someone else got a chance to shine in January.  However, you really do need two people to celebrate together, and that would make the ornament too big.  Maybe Woodstock’s small size is why they went this route for the ornament for January.

Snoopy and Woodstock are standing on an oval shaped piece of floor, which gives us a nice flat base for the ornament.  It also provides a nice surface to display the six in a Christmas tree series marker.  It’s nice it stands flat since I will be displaying it sitting on the front of the stand I mentioned earlier.

As with most of the rest of the series, you can’t hang this one successfully from the stand.  If you try, Snoopy turns to the side.  He will hang straight if you try to display him hanging somewhere, but I like to set the series in front of the display so I get the background as well.

While it would have been nice to give another character a chance to shine in January, it’s hard to argue with the pure fun that is New Year's Celebration.  You’ll be ready to celebrate with Snoopy and Woodstock all year long.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Happiness is Peanuts All Year Long series.
