Swimming in Gold

Most of the sports that Disney included in the All Stars Trading Cards pin series were the traditional definition of the sport.  However, for the final entry in the series, they did something completely different.  Oh, it still fits the character, but Scrooge McDuck isn’t swimming like a traditional person would swim.

You see, for this pin, we have caught Scrooge McDuck swimming in his vault of gold.  While, obviously, people really swim in water, this is something Scrooge has done many times in the comics and cartoons over the years, so it still fits.  Anyway, he is wearing a swimming costume and has popped out of his gold with his hand outstretched and a huge smile on his face.  We can see the path he just swam in his gold, and some coins are flying off his hands just like drops of water.  He’s signed the card in the upper right hand corner, and the banner with Swimming on it is across the bottom.

And I love it!  This is the kind of thing that is fun if you are a fan of the character and is a fun Disney twist on the familiar anyway.  They could have included swimming with so many characters that actually swim, too, like Ariel or Nemo and Dory, so the fact that they did this twist on it makes it even more fun.  We don’t get many pins with Scrooge McDuck, so I love getting to see him on a pin, too.

It’s a great looking pin, too, since it fits in with the rest of the series.

Fans of the series will be thrilled with the final entry.  Fans of Scrooge McDuck will be even happier they tracked down this pin.
