The Twins Premier in a Book that is Double Fun

Identical twins Bert and Nan Tatum are used to being mistaken for each other. So when a stranger approaches Bert on the street, she assumes the stranger is looking for Nan. Only later does she find out that Nan didn't know him either. By that point, he's dead. Nan, curious as to how a complete stranger knew them, drags Bert into the investigation. But it's soon clear that they are both in real danger and the only way to get out alive is to solve the case themselves. The trail leads them to a murder case from their past. Why is it coming back to haunt them now?

This book is a lot of fun. The "gimmick" of alternating chapters from Bert and Nan is part of it. This is frustrating at first, and I found myself constantly looking back at the chapter title to figure out which character was narrating the story. Before the half way point, I got the hang of it and was able to appreciate the humor the different points of view brought out. Nan and Bert are very different characters, and that does it easier to tell them apart. The authors, identical twins themselves, have pour their expertise into creating these sisters. The plot moves along at a quick pace and reaches a logical conclusion. And, no matter which twin is writing, the style is engaging. The book is very hard to put down.

Unfortunately, this series is long out of print.  But if you are looking for a treat, track them down, starting with Double Murder, because they are so much fun.

You'll enjoy spending more time with these characters in the Tatum Twins Mysteries in order.
