August 1st's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

August 1st?  Seriously?  How did it get to be August already?  At least it's a Friday, which means it is now time for Book Beginnings and Friday 56.  (Freda is currently on vacation, so the link may not be up, but I'm still doing it anyway.)

This week, I'm featuring To Brie or Not To Brie, the fourth Cheese Shop Mystery by Avery Aames.  I just started it today, but I am certainly enjoying it.  It's wonderful to be back with these characters.

The book starts with:

"Charlotte Erin Bessette, you're a goner."

That gets your attention, doesn't it?  Especially since Charlotte is our main character.

Moving ahead to page 56, we find:

"By the way, did you see Sylvie?  She's outside her shop wearing a sandwich-board sign and not much else.  What is that woman thinking?"

I haven't made it much past page 56 myself, but this is shaping up to be another winner.

  5. I read the first of this series ages ago and never picked it up again but these excerpts sound fun! Looks like a series I need to revisit.

    1. I read the first book when it came out and then never got around to reading any more - until this year. My goal is to be caught up by the end of 2014, and since this is book 4 of 5, I should make it.

    1. It's why I had to use that quote. Just too funny (and does fit the character).
