October 3rd's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

Welcome to the end of another week.  Ready for this week's Book Beginnings and Friday 56?

This week, I'm reading a short story collection that comes out on Tuesday.  Yes, I'm cutting it close with this ARC, but there you have it.  The book is the latest in the short story collections from Chesapeake Sisters in Crime - Homicidal Holidays.

Now if you are thinking that Halloween and Christmas will dominate the book, we'll they do have the most stories each, however, we get some fun other holidays along the way.

For instant, the book starts with a story centered on Groundhog Day that starts like this:

"Good Lord, Gus, what's got you so down on this beautiful Saturday morning?"

And what indeed would have him down?  (Let's just say that I would agree with him on this one for sure.)

And from page 56 we find...nothing.  It's a blank page between stories.  So I'll move ahead and take the first line from the next story.  This story is themed around Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Yes, there is a story in this book set on that day, and it is what pushed me over the edge to accept this book for review.  Anyway, the first line:

"Your wench is on line seventeen."

My review is supposed to be up on Tuesday, so I'd better get some serious reading in this weekend.  Not quite sure when that will happen, but I need to make it happen.
