A Traditional Carousel for the Middle Ornament in this Miniature Series

I wasn’t super surprised when Hallmark started the Christmas Carousel series with a carousel of Santa and his reindeer.  Makes perfect sense, right?  But I did hope at some point we’d have a more traditional carousel.  My wish was granted with the second in the series.

That’s right, this entry in the series features horses.  Specifically, there are four horses.  They are grays and whites and brown, but what really makes them fun are the colorful sashes each one is wearing.  And for those looking for a bit more of a Christmas tie in, you’ll be happy to hear that the top of the carousel is silver and green, and the bottom is red.  Horses may not scream Christmas, but the colors do help make up for it.

And, the entire thing looks festive.  The subject matter may not be Christmas, but it still looks like a holiday piece.

Now, listen to this next part carefully.  This is a miniature ornament.  It’s only about two inches tall at its longest.  Adjust your expectations accordingly when you buy it.

However, given the size, the ornament still looks great.  You can still see some detail on the horses and the carousel.  It always amazes me that they can do so much with the details on something so small.

And the best part?  This is an actual carousel.  There is a nob down at the bottom, and you can turn it to make the horses spin and bob up and down.  That’s the kind of small detail I’m talking about.

Because of the nob on the bottom, you can’t set this ornament out to be displayed since it won’t sit straight.  Not that you might want to since it is so small it would be easy to lose it.  However, this ornament hangs straight, which is no surprise since it is obviously symmetrical.

You’ll find a 2 in a Christmas tree on the bottom is you look carefully.  This series was announced to be a three entry series when it started, so there is only one more to go and we will have them all.

I’m glad we got horses in a carousel before the Christmas Carousel series ended.  It may be a cliché, but that also makes it traditional, and I like this nod to tradition.
