October 9th's Sunday/Monday Post

I really should be in bed right now, but instead, I'm going to see how quickly I can do a Sunday/Monday post.  I'll be linking up to:

Sunday Post
Sunday Salon
Stacking the Shelves
Mailbox Monday
It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Not too much to report from this last week.  It was month end close at work, so I was pretty busy.  But we got things done, which is always a great feeling.

Saturday was very busy which is why I am just now working on this post at almost midnight instead of Saturday afternoon or early evening like normal.

I start out by heading to my local Hallmark store.  It was Ornament Debut, when they release the second half of their ornaments for the year.  Okay, so there are still a few to come, but about 95% of their ornaments are out for the year.  I went in, picked up the three ornaments on my wishlist, and bought a few more relatively quickly.  The pictures what I got, including a couple of freebees, but ornaments I was actually excited to get this time around.

Why was I so fast? I wanted to head out to the lake.  It was a gorgeous day for paddling.  Hardly any wind and still warm.  It will soon be windy and cool, so I had to take advantage of it while I could.

But I couldn't be there too late since it was game day with my friends.  And I said I wasn't going to go until they kicked me out.  Well, they didn't really kick me out, but I was in the last group to leave, and it was about 11 when I left.  Obviously, it was a good time.

This Past Week on the Blog:

Monday - Book Review: The Plot and the Pendulum by Jenn McKinnley

Wednesday - Book Review: Murder on Pleasant Avenue by Victoria Thompson
Thursday - Ornament Review: Sandal the Snowman #1
Friday - Book Review: Live, Local, and Dead by Nikki Knight
Saturday - Weekly TV Thoughts

Book Haul:

Last week, I could almost justify the number of books in this section because it was 6 books in three weeks.  This week?  Another six books in one week.  I am going to give myself a partial pass.  They are all ebooks, so at least I didn't fill my physical shelves.  That's a good thing since I don't have the room in my condo.  Also, the three I bought are all books I've been eyeing.  The other three were free ARCs for review.

The books I bought on sale were: Something Shady at Sunshine Haven by Kris Block, Lyin' Eyes by Julie Mulhern, and The Alchemist's Illusion by Gigi Pandian.

And the ARCs for review are: A Christmas Candy Killing by Christina Romeril, A Book Club to Die For by Dorothy St. James, and Peril in Paris by Rhys Bowen.

What I'm Currently Reading:

Actually, I'm currently reading A Christmas Candy Killing by Christina Romeril since the book tour I'm reviewing it for is coming up next week.  Yikes, I'd better get reading.  I just started it Friday night, and considering how little time I had for reading Saturday, I didn't get much read.  Hopefully, I'll get more reading in on Sunday.

Have a good week.

  1. Our weather is also getting more and more toward the cold side, with temperatures near freezing almost every night. Soon: no more local tomatoes.

  2. The ornament search sounds fun. Our Hallmark store closed during the pandemic, and we really miss it. And it's great you got in time for paddling.

You have been working hard, so you deserve a few extra books. Good luck with your book for review that needs to be read and reviewed this coming week.

  3. I do some of my posting late but never that late. Sleep is too important 😂 glad that you got a paddle in. Those ornaments look great. Once my son stops destroying things I look forward to getting more ornaments...

    Have a good week ahead!

  5. A Christmas Candy Killing looks like a lot of fun for the holidays. The blog tours are fun, but I've taken on too many. Have to cut back. Here's my SP: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2022/10/08/sundaypost-catching-up/

  6. We used to have a Hallmark store in the mall but it shut down. People don't shop in person enough to keep businesses going anymore, at least around here. I always loved looking at the various cards and ornaments.

  7. I've been thinking of getting friends together for a game night. I think I'll wait until my daughter goes back to NY.

  8. Nice that you were able to get out and about and visit friends last week. You have been busy!

  9. It's hard to find time to do everything we want right? Time for friends, a hobby (your paddling sounds excellent!), time to read, time to blog, oh yeah, and where's work, eating, and sleeping? Just not enough hours in the day. I often stay up late on the weekends to blog ahead for the week since I work full time and it's hard to do much during the week.
Great jump on the ornaments - can't believe it's time to start thinking Christmas already. I just put up my fall wreath and pumpkins! :)
Hope you have a terrific week and find time to curl up with one of those good books.

  11. I don't think you ever have to rationalize collecting more books to this crowd, LOL. We all understand and are right there with you! I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week.

  15. I hope the paddling weather lasts a long while. I am glad you were able to get out to the lake. Your new books all look good! I need to go through my home shelves to make room for my new books. There's something to be said for e-books and how easy they are to store! Have a great week.
