January 4th's Weekly TV Thoughts

Welcome to the first Weekly TV Thoughts of the new year.  No, I there weren't a ton on since they started on the 1st, but more are coming next week.  It's a little crazy to me how quickly things jump back in after the holidays.  And my winter/spring is going to be much busier than the fall was.  Which is saying something.

Wipeout – I’m talking about both episodes from the last two Sundays at once.  First up, did that guy really propose to his girlfriend, who wasn’t even there?  Just weird.  And it was interesting seeing them have singles on the second episode.  I can’t believe how close both of the final runs were.  My money was on the Marines, but it was very close for them.

The Challenge – These finals are always so brutal.  I certainly sympathize with those complaining about all the swimming they’ve had to do so far.  And the sleep deprivation task is hard as well.  I most associate that song with Babylon 5, so I was laughing seeing it there.  I’m wondering if the different tasks will be weighed differently since it seems easy to determine who is ahead based on how they are finishing at the moment.

Only Murders in the Building – I’m so glad that ABC is airing the second season.  No, I’m not a fan of the painting motive, but I am enjoying so much of the rest.  And the one liners are sharper this time around.  Curious as to who done it and why, naturally.

Happy’s Place – Yes, I should have seen that ending coming earlier than I did, but it was perfect.  And so many great laughs along the way.  I really appreciated that all the regulars were given their moments.  They are becoming a good ensemble, and the show is strongest when all the characters are used well.
