Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with many great presents (of course, I mean books) if you were celebrating. I did.
Time now, for a Friday Post, where I will be linking up to:
Book Beginnings
First Line Friday
Friday 56
Book Blogger Hop
My teaser for the first three will be coming from Gilt Trip, the fourteenth Samantha Kidd Mystery from Diane Vallere.
It's been a while since I read a book in this series since I was working on some of the author's other series, so it's been nice to revisit Samantha. Here's how this book begins:
“This isn’t working,” I said.
“Come on,” Nick replied. “You can’t give up so soon. There’s a lot of good here.”
Meanwhile, at 56% into the Kindle version, we find this:
“I’d love to hear your theory,” I said politely, “but I need to make the rounds first. In the meantime, hang tight. We had to sacrifice dinner because the food sat out too long, but the pastry chef is assembling desserts as we speak.”
“About time,” Senior said.
Good thing dessert was saved, right?
I've been enjoying this one. My full review will be my first review of 2025 (got to get used to typing that), so come back Thursday to see what I thought.
Meanwhile, let's close things out with this weeks Book Blogger Hop.
Do you have any reading goals for the new year?
Trying to figure out how to balance reading and my blog with other things. Which is hard because I don't want to give up getting all the books read that I have on my to be read pile. But I also want to have time to maybe reread an old favorite. Or be more spontaneous with my free time. But I haven't figured out how to balance that well. So if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Have a great weekend!
Thanks for introducing me and have a good Friday!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about finding balance between reading and blogging. Writing reviews and participating in projects like this one make my reading more enjoyable, though and possibly more meaningful. So I persist and try to strike a good balance for me. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to balance. I haven't got it right yet. I love a Blog Tour and of course I need to support my local library, Netgalley sometimes sneaks in there too, which means that I never get my own books read!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

I did receive a few books for Christmas. I'll let you guess what one of them is. I had it as high priority on my wish list. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a juggling act, isn't it? Besides the basic Goodreads goal, I don't think I'll focus on any other challenges next year. Especially in the second half of the year, it got to be too much to add my book titles to the challenges on my blog and in Goodreads groups. I am going to try to keep up with the NetGalley digital Reading Journal. I had it last year, but was too intimidated by it to start using it. Over the past few weeks, I've been learning how to use it and I'm loving it. After the first of the year, I'm planning to start blogging and blog hopping regularly again.
Have a great rest of 2024 and I'll see you next year (literally!). :)
Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Lassoed into Love by Rachel Eliker. So far, it's cute. 🙂
"I bumped the knife drawer shut with my hip and turned to slice the pile of lettuce I'd brought in from the garden."
I hope you have an excellent weekend filled with relaxing reading time. 🙂❤️📚
I love Diane Vallere's books but it's been far too long since I've read any of them. My main goal is going to be to focus on books I've been wanting to read or books that I really want to read and be a bit more of a mood reader.
