My book this week is A Tale of Two Biddies, the second in the League of Literary Ladies Mysteries by Kylie Logan.
This series is about four ladies who are in a book club reading classic books who find mysteries that mirror the books they are reading. In this case, all references to Dickens are intentional.
Take the first sentence, for example.
"It was the best of thymes, it was the worst of thymes!"
Pretty obvious and pretty fun, right? Page 56 doesn't have anything that obvious, but it does contain this intriguing conversation:
"Your friends?"
"Know what I've told them."
"And you've told them?"
"What I want them to know."
Interested in learning more? I just happen to have reviewed the book yesterday.
Although I'm not a big Dickens fan I love it when books refer to others! It's always so much fun to discover another little reference! And the F56 does sound very intriguing! I wonder what it is that the friends have been told! Thanks for sharing :) Hope you have a great weekend!

This book is good about pointing out the references, which I appreciate since I haven't read the book before either.
DeleteLOL I've been a part of conversations like that.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think I ever had, but it was a fun conversation even in context.
DeleteThis sounds like a fun series. I think I have the first one of another of Logan's series but I don't think I've read that one either. I'll have to give this one a try. I love literary references in books!
ReplyDeleteLogan has three series out. I've got the first in her Chili cooking series to read, but somehow I can't get into the button collector series.
DeleteWhat a clever idea for a series! Love the conversation too. Sounds like a fun book.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to my Friday post: WHAT MATTERS MOST.
The idea is absolutely brilliant and executed so well.
