This week's book is Bless Her Dead Little Heart by Miranda James.
I'm about a third of the way into the book, and so far I'm really enjoying it.
Here is how it begins:
Miss An'gel Ducote fixed her houseguest with a gimlet eye. "I expect you to behave like a proper gentleman while you're here."
And from page 56:
Her mouth suddenly felt dry. "I'm glad you're here." She hesitated over her next words. "It might not have been an accident."
Of course, being a murder mystery, what do you think the odds are that it was an accident. Yeah, that's what I thought as well.
Loving the cover. Sounds like a great book top
ReplyDeleteIt was a very good book.
DeleteI haven't read this one yet, but have only heard great things about it. Give me a visit when you get the chance ... http://lisaksbookthoughts.blogspot.com/2015/06/its-cozy-food-friday-that-means-its_18.html
ReplyDeleteI'm a little surprised you have read this one yet. I figured you would have been all over it by now.
DeleteLove the cover and title. This week I am spotlighting First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. It's been on TBR mountain for a while. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to get a book of the TBR mountain, isn't it?
DeleteA doggie and a kittie on the cover! I do love animal characters and that title is killing me. LOL

It is a great play on an expression, isn't it?
DeleteA "gimlet eye"! I love that description! And I'm glad there's a dog along with that cat on the cover.
ReplyDeleteHope you can stop by. http://evilverlordthoughts.com
The dog is a very minor character in the book, I'm afraid, but I really did like all the dog and cat characters.
DeleteBeing a Southern lady myself, I know I'd enjoy this Southern Ladies Mystery! I'm guessing that's sweet tea on the cover and that the accident really was a murder. After all, it's a cozy.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features What I Remember Most.
I'd be shocked if that wasn't sweet tea on the cover since they were talking about it over the course of the book. I rather assumed that's what it was even before I read the book, in fact.
DeleteLove the opener and the cover. Sounds like a fun mystery.
ReplyDeleteIt is very much.
DeleteI don't get murder mystery, but I am intrigued by her shady guest. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
And how would you feel if I told you that shady guest was a cat? Don't worry, there are plenty of shady human characters, too.
DeleteI've read the first in the series and am curious to read more of this one. I definitely don't think it was an accident either!
ReplyDeleteI am woefully behind on Miranda James's books.
DeleteOf course it's not an accident .... what's the fun in that? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhere's the fun, the plot, the mystery.... ;)
