Welcome to another Sunday/Monday post. As usual, I will be linking up to:

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?
It's was a quiet week in some ways and not in others.
On the one hand, I didn't do much out of the ordinary. Work, reading, and watching TV. I'm still in the middle of season 2 of Quantum Leap. I've moved into the second third of the season.
On the other hand, I did some training with my co-worker who is moving to a different department. And I'm stressing about all the added work that is coming my way starting on Monday. I just don't know how I am going to get everything done.
I did have to get a new battery for my car this week. It was barely starting when I went to get my allergy shots on Tuesday. I went with the battery at the car repair place I can literally walk to from my condo so I could keep working, but I'm questioning if it was really the best thing to do. I think I would have gotten a better battery if I'd gone back to the dealer. Especially since there was still warranty left on my old battery. Oh well. I can't dwell on that.
Saturday morning, I went out paddle boarding. In addition to the friend who introduced me to it, we were joined by another friend, who also happens to be our pastor's wife. That was fun.
Then this afternoon into evening was my monthly game time hosted by my former roommate and his wife. Played one game I had played one time before. But was introduced to several other games. My head was spinning by the time I left trying to figure out all these rules and strategies. And I was the first to leave after about 6 hours or so. But I really liked one of the new games I learned. Hoping to play it again.

Book Haul:
This week I got...you guess it...three books! (That seems to be my magic number, although I got more than that last week.)The first I got was from author Dana Mentink. She was offering a free book to her newsletter subscribers. While it was more romance with a little bit of mystery, I figured I'd download it for free. However, it looks like I actually got a different book. Not that I'm complaining. Free is free, right? The title I actually got was Return to Pelican Inn.
I also got two ARCs from Kensington Cozies this week. The Plot Thickets by Julia Henry is fifth in her Garden Squad Mysteries series. It comes out at the end of October. Meanwhile, Bake Offed is the eighth in Maya Corrigan's Five Ingredient Mysteries. It will be out at the end of November. I won't get to either one until closer to release date, but I enjoy both series, so I'm looking forward to both of them.
What I'm Currently Reading:
As I write this Saturday night, I'm working on Death on the Set by Rose Kerr. Not that I've made any progress in it today. I was too busy doing things with people to sit and read. It's good to be out with others, so I'm not complaining. Depending on how much of the book I get read on Sunday, I might finish it or not. It's at the stage where it could easily go either way.Next on my reading list is Round Up the Usual Peacocks by Donna Andrews. Her books are always such fun, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll start it either Monday or Tuesday.
Have a good week, everyone!
I haven't thought about Quantum Leap in years! I spent a summer watching it one year and loved it. I loved this newest Donna Andrews. There were quite a few scenes that made me laugh out load and it has confirmed my opinion that both peacocks and geese are mean! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteYour game session sounds fun. The paddle boarding sounds fun too. I always love being on the water.
ReplyDeleteI hope the battery works out. And have a great rest of the weekend!

I hear you on wondering how you are going to get everythign done work wise! But we do the best we can right.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
I wonder why some of us always end up with too much work to do. It reminds me of the story of the girl who could change straw into gold. A king put her in a huge room full of straw and told her to change it into gold or die. She did (with a little help) and her reward? She was given a larger room full of straw!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have game nights sometimes and those were always fun. A friend at swim class has decided to host an occasional neighborhood game night. I think that's a great idea.
Have a great week, Mark!
If you enjoy Quantum Leap I’d highly recommend Diane Chamberlain’s book “The Dream Daughter”. I love that your friends gather for Game night - it sounds like a lot of fun. Have a wonderful week ahead Mark.
ReplyDeleteI have Round up the Usual Peacocks on my ereader. I love her first peacock book, Murder with Peacocks.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy game nights with my family or friends sometimes. They are so much fun. I am looking forward to reading your review of Campfire Christmas. I watched that, among a bunch of other Hallmark Christmas movies, in July. Enjoy your Sunday and I hope everything goes smoothly for you at work this week. :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's so much going on in this post! I really enjoyed Quantum Leap. Game night sounds really fun, I want to find a group of friends who are into that.
ReplyDeleteDoes ANYONE ever manage to get a new battery via the warranty? I know I don't because my battery usually dies when I'm out running errands so I end up calling AAA who comes to my rescue with a new battery.
ReplyDeleteYour week sounds so fun with the paddle boarding and games and stuff.
There's only so many hours in a day. Deal with the work you're dreading the most, first, and then you'll quickly plow through the rest of it. You've got this!!!!
Sounds like there were some interesting things that happened this week! The books look good. I haven't played a game in ages. Well about 4 years - before my son was born 😂
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I started watching Quantum Leap with my kids, and we fell away from watching it. We need to start up again!
ReplyDeleteQuantum Leap is such a wonderful series, I'm glad you're enjoying it. I hope your new battery works well and lasts a few years for you.
ReplyDeleteIt is no fun to feel like you have more work than you have time for. I hope that gets sorted out soon. I have enjoyed every book I have read by Dana Mentink. I hope you enjoy your free book. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope this week isn’t too bad. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I’ll remember to enter my info so I don’t comment as anonymous 🤣. My comment is above 👆

I feel you about the added workload, hopefully it's not too stressful for you this week. I remember Quantum Leap, I used to watch when I was little.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books this week, the Maya Corrigan series looks cute.
We're finishing Season 1 of NCIS. I'd watched most of the show but missed these earlier seasons from mid-2000s. Quiet week? I'd say you had a nice busy week but relaxing (except for the apartment noise). And nice haul of books. My list is up:

Your game time sounds great! I love games, but Mr. Bookwyrm isn't that into them, and nor are most of my friends, so I mostly play games online or on my tablet.
ReplyDeleteYour new cozies both look fun. I hope you enjoy them.
Have a great week, and may your work go well for you.
Round Up the Usual Peacocks was fun. I hope you enjoy it. It sounds like you are keeping really busy between gaming, paddleboarding and work. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great book haul.
ReplyDeleteAs always love your reads and it does sound like a really balanced week as well. Oh dear hope that extra work calms down, you can only do what you can do.
ReplyDeleteI never got through much of Quantum Leap but I liked the few I did. I never seem to have time for tv anymore. I hope things work out at work. As for the battery, the dealer might have been a lot more expensive though.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
Glad you had some fun. I hope your new duties won't be overly stressful.
ReplyDeleteYour novella reading looks like my October type reading - lots of haunted.
Your cozies have cute names. Have a good week and Happy Reading!
Sounds like you had a busy week Mark. Good luck with your new responsibilities.
