Pros: Great quote; two fun pins

Wisdom from the Jungle (Book)
I love many songs from various Disney movies (what good
DisNerd doesn’t?), so when I saw that the third entry in the Disney Wisdom
Collection was coming from the song “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book, I was excited since
that is one of the songs that I love.
This third pin set features three pins. One features Baloo, the bear, which makes
sense since he is the one singing the song they pulled the quote from. The second features Bagheera the
panther. Finally, we have the quote in
the stylized calligraphy they are using for the series. The quote?
“Forget about your worries and your strife.” Being one of the smaller quotes in the
series, this one fits on the pin without being overly crowded.
The color of the month is green. The banner with the quote on it features a
few different shades of green along with some other colors for accent. Baloo is a couple of shades of green. I must be getting used to this look because
he doesn’t look that bad. Unfortunately,
I can’t say the same about Bagheera.
He’s mostly black, or a green so dark he looks black, which is fine for
a panther. However, his eyes and open
mouth are a sea green. I like the color,
but how they used it here is just weird.
I really wish they had done something else since he actually kind of
looks bad.
What’s worse about it is that Bagheera is a character we
don’t see much in merchandise in general and pins in particular. I’m pretty sure I don’t have any pins with
him on them, and I can’t think the last time I saw one offered in the
parks. So the idea of adding him to my
pin collection was exciting even if he was going to be stylized. He just doesn’t work stylized, at least as
stylized as he is here.
The quote itself is wonderful. As I mentioned, I love the song, so getting
something from it is great. And it is
something I need to remember in my life.
I worry about too much and mull over strife. There are even Bible verses that talk about
this very idea, so this is nothing new at all.
Maybe something that will get these lyrics stuck in my head will help me
remember it better.
I definitely wish Bagheera looked better, but even so, I am
pleased with this third pin set in the Disney Wisdom collection.
