Ornament Review: Winter Fun with Snoopy #28 - Shoveling Snow - 2025 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Cute scene
Cons: But is it fun?
The Bottom Line:
Doing wintry chore
Snoopy, Woodstock make cute scene
But does not seem fun

You’ve Got a Weird Definition of Fun

Snoopy has enjoyed quite a few fun things over the course of the Winter Fun with Snoopy series.  I do have to seriously question if he’s really have fun in the twenty-eighth entry in the series since he’s shoveling snow.

The ornament itself is great as always.  Snoopy has a shovel that is about half his size, but he’s using it to push the show that has recently fallen.  Woodstock is along for the ride as always.  And, in this case, literally.  You see, he’s sitting on the snow in front of the shovel that Snoopy is pushing.  Snoopy is wearing a purple cap and blue scarf while he does this work.

Now, I’ll be the first to confess I’m not a cold weather or snow person.  But seriously, who finds shoveling snow fun?  I feel like this might be a sign that the series is running out of ideas.

That aside, I do like the ornament itself.  It’s a cute scene and I just love the idea of Woodstock catching a ride instead of working.

Do remember that this is one of Hallmark’s miniature series.  The ornament is only about an inch tall.  So keep that in mind before you buy it.

Because Snoopy is standing on a snowy path, the ornament has a nice, solid base, so you can easily set it out to be displayed if you so desire.  You’ll find the 28 in a Christmas tree on the bottom of this base.

When you go to hang the ornament, you’ll find it tips just a little to the left.  But you have to be watching for it.

While I might have my issues with whether this is fun or not, I do enjoy this Winter Fun with Snoopy ornament overall.  If you are a Peanuts and mini ornament fan, you’ll like it, too.

Ornament Review: Masked Marvel - Spotlight on Snoopy #28 - 2025 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Snoopy in a lesser remembered persona
Cons: All cons masked
The Bottom Line:
Secret masked hero
Snoopy is wearing the cape
In fun ornament

Just Who Is This Masked Marvel?

As I’ve often said, the Spotlight on Snoopy series was the one Hallmark series I’ve been collecting for much longer than I’ve officially been collection Hallmark ornaments. So I’m always looking forward to seeing what Snoopy and Woodstock are up to each year. And this year…wait a minute. We don’t have Snoopy. We have the Masked Marvel instead!

Okay, so the Masked Marvel is one of the personalities that Snoopy has taken on over the years. Usually, when he dons this mask, he’s going to do some feat of athletic prowess. Or at least pretend he can do one.

And that’s the persona we get for this year’s ornament. Snoopy is standing with his arms outstretched almost like he is flexing his muscles. His mask is on, and he’s wearing a red cape, something he doesn’t always wear as this character. I’m glad they included it here since it adds a bit more to the ornament and provides a fun splash of color. Naturally, Woodstock is similarly costumed, although his cape is green.

Honestly, I had forgotten about this character that Snoopy plays, but as soon as I started reading about him, his appearances came flooding back. I always prefer it when this ornament series highlights something from the comics, so I liked seeing that here. And seeing Snoopy in this pose is fun.

As usual, Snoopy is standing, so the ornament is solid enough to be set out to display. It helps that Woodstock is extending the base ever so slightly. Still, you’ll had to be careful since the ornament wants to tip back.  It would take quite a bump to do that, but it could happen.

And you’ll find the series marker on Snoopy’s foot as always.

The ornament tips forward ever so slightly, but that’s not something you’ll notice when you hang it unless you are looking specifically for it.

This one might appeal most to die hard Peanuts fans, but they will love getting to add Masked Marvel to their collection. Even me, who forgot about this persona, thinks it is nice it was honored with an ornament.

Be sure to shine a spotlight on the rest of the Spotlight on Snoopy series

Ornament Review: Sally and Pigpen - 2024 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Two lesser produced Peanuts characters
Cons: None for me
The Bottom Line:
Sally and Pigpen
Dancing onto Christmas tree
In this mini set

Two More Peanuts Characters Get the Mini Treatment

Over the years, Hallmark has released various sets of Peanuts characters around themes.  Usually, they include Lucy, Linus, Charlie Brown, and Snoopy in those sets.  So when I spotted a two ornament collection of Sally and Pigpen in 2024, I snagged it.

This is a collection of two miniature ornaments.  It’s just as you’d expect from the name.  Sally is dancing, so she’s got one leg up.  While Pigpen doesn’t have his big cloud of dust around him, we can see smudges of dirt on his face and on the bass he’s playing.

I must admit, I didn’t realize until I was home with the set that these are both themed around A Charlie Brown Christmas.  These are the characters as they appear in the big dance scenes that are interrupting the pageant practice.  This makes me wonder if I should have paid more attention and we’ve gotten more miniature ornaments featuring other characters from the special in the past.  Either way, that was a fun bonus for ornaments I was already planning to get.

You see, I love Peanuts, and it is nice to have a variety of the characters.  I get that the most popular characters are going to be the ones that sell the most, but I appreciate that these lesser done characters get their day every so often.

As I said earlier, these are mini ornaments.  Pigpen is a little taller just because his bass is so much bigger than he is, but the characters themselves are about an inch tall.  As long as you know that when you buy the pair, you’ll be fine.

This probably means you don’t want to set the ornaments out to be displayed anyway.  But if you wanted to, you’ll find that Sally doesn’t stand on her own at all.  You can balance Pigpen, but he isn’t very stable, so he’ll probably fall over the first time someone walks by.

Fortunately, both ornaments hang straight, so you’ll be fine when you go to hang these on your tree.

The Sally and Pigpen set was fun to get.  If you are a Peanuts fan looking for some lesser produced characters, you’ll be glad you picked it up.

Ornament Review: Winter Fun with Snoopy #27 - Warming Up by a Fire - 2024 Hallmark Release

Stars: 4 out of 5
Pros: Cute scene of a warm fire
Cons: Does tip backward quite dramatically
The Bottom Line:
A cozy fire scene
For this cute miniature
Cute piece for your tree

This Winter, It’s Time to Warm Up

When I think traditional winter, I think of cold and snow.  Not the winter I usually experience in Southern California.  And that’s the winter that Snoopy and Woodstock have celebrated in Hallmark’s Winter Fun with Snoopy series.  But they are experiencing something a little warmer for the twenty-seventh entry in the series.

You see, this year, they are enjoying some time by the fire.  Yes, they are still outdoors, but they are sitting out by a fire pit with their hands and feet stretched out to gather the best of the warmth.  Both of them are wearing green scarves, and Snoopy has on a red and green hat.

As always with this series, this is a miniature ornament, which means it is only a little over an inch tall.  The detail they get into that size is fun and amazing.

And it’s a cute scene in general.  While I don’t think I’ve ever sat around a fire in the snow (spent very little time in the snow in general), I still see the appeal of capturing a moment warming up by the fire.

The scene is sitting on a white base, so the ornament is nice and flat.  If you wanted to set it out to be displayed, you could easily do that.  Do keep in mind that this is a mini ornament so you don’t set it some place where you could lose it.  And yes, you’ll find the series marker on the bottom of the base.

I was surprised to see how much the ornament tips when you go to hang it.  I was especially surprised since I didn’t notice it tipping when I had it on my mini tree last month.  Obviously, this proves my point that you can disguise a tip with well-placed branches if you are smart about it.

The 2024 entry in the Winter Fun with Snoopy series is another fun entry.  If you’ve been collecting this series, you’ll be glad you have it.

Enjoy more of the Winter Fun with Snoopy ornaments.

Hallmark Ornament Review: Christmas Is... #1 - Connecting with Far-Away Friends - 2024 Hallmark Release

Stars: 4 out of 5
Pros: Cute scene to start a new series
Cons: A little bigger than I like, but not too bad
The Bottom Line:
Happy getting note
Starts new Peanuts themed series
But a little big

Christmas Is…Starting a New Ornament Series

I know I keep saying I need to cut back on Hallmark ornaments. And I really do need to. But I can’t seem to resist looking at the new series Hallmark starts each year. And since they are starting a new Peanuts series this year, I just couldn’t resist. So I snagged the first Christmas Is…ornament

This first entry finds Charlie Brown getting a Christmas miracle. You see, this year, he actually got a Christmas card. The ornament feature Charlie Brown holding that card in his hand. If you turn the ornament around you can see his name on the envelope. He’s walking away from the mailbox, which he left opened and some letters are falling out. He’s got the biggest smile on his face.

All of this is on a nice round base. Around it, we can read the sentiment for the year, “Christmas is…connecting with far-away friends.”

Because of that base, this ornament is stable, and you can set it out to be displayed anywhere. You’ll also find the series marker on the bottom.

Sometimes, these bigger ornaments are harder to balance, but we are in luck with this one - it hangs perfectly straight. That is, as long as the tree branches don’t get in the way.

Hallmark seems to be making their ornaments bigger in recent years, a trend I’m not necessarily a fan of. They take up too much valuable tree space when they are bigger. This ornament is a little on the big side. It’s not as bad as some that Hallmark has released recently, but I wish it were about 3/4 the size it is now.

On the other hand, I had to get at least this first one. It’s Peanuts, and I do love the characters. And it’s so cute. I also like the fact that Charlie Brown finally got a Christmas card. I identify with him quite a bit, and I wish he would have more go his way. (For the record, I do get Christmas cards despite the fact that I never send any out. I’m bad, I know. There just isn’t time to do everything I need to in December.)

I also love this play on the famous Peanuts Happiness Is … theme.

I’m glad I at least got the first Christmas Is… ornament. We will see if I continue the series when we see what the next one is. But I am happy I added this one to my collection.

Enjoy more Peanuts Christmas ornaments with more Christmas Is... ornaments.

Ornament Review: Surfs Up! - Spotlight on Snoopy #27 - 2024 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Snoopy surfing makes for a fun ornament
Cons: Surfing isn’t exactly Christmassy
The Bottom Line:
Snoopy catching waves
Might not fit Christmas spirit
Still fun ornament

This Ornament is Rad, Dude!

This year’s Spotlight on Snoopy ornament is one I’m surprised we haven’t had before.  Yes, it is number twenty-seven in the series, so we’ve had a few repeats or similar entries, but when I saw Surf’s Up! I couldn’t believe we haven’t seen it already.

Yes, Snoopy’s surfing for this entry.  He’s standing on a board in red trunks.  His arms are out and his ears are back, blown by the wind.  He’s got a big smile on his face.  The ornament is designed so we can see bits of the water splashing around his board.  Woodstock is with him as always.  The little yellow bird is standing on the front of the board leaning forward and smiling as well.

And I love it!  No, I’m not a surfer myself, but I love anything and everything have to do with water.  This captures that magic summer feeling for me.  It makes me think of warm summer days and fun at the beach.

So maybe this isn’t the best fit for a Christmas ornament?  No, I need something to make me think of summer when the cold rolls around.  I love it too much to even think about that.

The ornament is designed to sit flat, so you can leave it out year round to enjoy.  Or maybe put it out during the summer instead of hanging it on your tree.

If you do decide to hang it on your tree, you’ll find that it tips forward – and that’s a good thing.  It actually tips at such an angle that it adds to the illusion that Snoopy is actually surfing.  I love it.

And yes, you’ll find the twenty-seven in a Christmas tree series marker on the bottom of the ornament.

I’m sure that Surf’s Up! will be popular with Snoopy fans whether they’ve been collecting the Spotlight on Snoopy series or not.  And I can see it appealing to surfers as well.  I know I’m happy to have it in my collection.

Enjoy the rest of the Spotlight on Snoopy series.

Ornament Review: Winter Fun with Snoopy #26 - Drinking Hot Chocolate - 2023 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Fun moment in this miniature ornament
Cons: Only if not expecting a miniature ornament
The Bottom Line:
Enjoy a hot drink
While walking in winter snow
Pals make it look fun

Enjoying a Warm Drink on a Wintry Day

While the topics are endless for Hallmark’s Spotlight on Snoopy ornament series, it must be harder to keep coming up with ideas for the Winter Fun with Snoopy series.  After all, there are only so many wintry things people enjoy, right?  But we have another winner for the twenty-sixth ornament in the series.

This year, Snoopy and Woodstock are enjoying a cup of hot chocolate.  How do I know it is hot chocolate?  Because they have marshmallows floating in their red mugs.  Snoopy is in a teal and blue hat and scarf while Woodstock is wearing a scarf, but that and the hot drink are their only defenses against the cold.  Since they are standing on a platform of white, they are out in the snow, too.

Not being a fan of cold weather, I can’t imagine being outside with so little, but I also recognize that too much more would hide who the characters are.  But I do love hot chocolate, especially with marshmallows in it, so that part of the ornament warms me through and through.  It’s another one that brings a smile to my face.

This is one of Hallmark’s miniature series.  That means, all told, Snoopy is about an inch tall, and Woodstock is proportionally smaller.  And looking at Woodstock showcases just how well they do the details on these miniature ornaments.  You can see the snowflake on his mug and two marshmallows floating in his hot chocolate.  His scarf is a little hard to see, but it is there if you look for it.  That is extremely impressive.

Since Woodstock and Snoopy are standing on a circular platform representing snow, you can set this ornament out to be displayed, which isn’t always the case for this series.  Granted, you’ll want to be careful that you don’t put it in a place where it can be easily lost.

If you turn the ornament over, you’ll find the series marker on the bottom.

When you go to hang this ornament, you’ll find that it hangs straight.

Drinking hot chocolate is definitely a fun part of winter.  That makes this ornament of Snoopy and Woodstock doing that a great addition to the Winter Fun with Snoopy series.

Ornament Review: Pirate Snoopy - Spotlight on Snoopy #26 - 2023 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Lots of fun with Snoopy as a pirate.
Cons: All cons walked the plank
The Bottom Line:
Snoopy as pirate
Goes all out on the costume
The result looks great

Hear Me Out, Matey, As I Tell Ye About This Year’s Spotlight on Snoopy Ornament

It always amazes me when I see the themes that are picked for each year’s Spotlight on Snoopy series.  I mean, this year is the twenty-sixth in the series, how many more years can it go?  But we’ve got a fun one this year with Pirate Snoopy.

I’m sure it’s no surprise that Snoopy is decked out as the pirate captain.  He’s got a blue pirate’s hat on his head with a scull and crossbones on it.  He has an eye batch on his left eye.  I’m not sure what happened to his left side, because he’s got a hook in place of his left hand, too.  His right hand is holding a sword.  He’s wearing a blue captain’s coat with a fancy shirt on underneath it.  Woodstock is getting into the act by wearing a red kerchief on his head and a red and white striped shirt.  And Woodstock is showing off part of their treasure since he is holding a gold doubloon.

Hallmark did release an ornament with Snoopy as a pirate a couple years ago as part of that year’s Halloween line.  I didn’t get it since I generally don’t get the Halloween ornaments.  For that one, Snoopy was dressed more as an average pirate (like Woodstock in this ornament) instead of the captain.  That makes this different enough that Snoopy fans will want to get both.

Of course, nothing about this is Christmassy.  You could display it at Halloween or year round if you wanted.  Then again, that’s true of many of the ornaments in this series.  You will be happy to find that Snoopy stands firmly on his own two feet if you want to display him that way.

Or you can hang the ornament on your tree.  There’s a very slight tilt to the ornament, but if you aren’t looking carefully for it, you’ll never know it was there.

And the series marker is on the bottom of Snoopy’s boots.

If you are only interested in ornaments with a strong Christmas theme, you’ll want to pass this ornament up.  But if you love Snoopy, you’ll be happy you picked up Pirate Snoopy.

Light up your collection with the rest of the Spotlight on Snoopy series.

Ornament Review: Winter Fun with Snoopy #25 - Bobsledding - 2022 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Great piece honors Olympics and anniversary
Cons: Only if you aren’t expecting a mini ornament
The Bottom Line:
Tiny bobsledders
Winter Olympic spirit
Honors twenty-fifth

Bob on Down the Icy Track with Snoopy and Woodstock

I’ve got to admit, I did a double take when I saw this year’s Winter Fun with Snoopy Ornament.  In fact, I had to go and look at the list since I was sure they had already done bobsledding.  But this is the first time they have done it, and it is a fun addition to this miniature series.

This was a 2022 release, and it was clearly themed to tie into to Winter Olympics that had been held earlier in the year.  Snoopy is mostly hidden in his bobsled.  When you look at it from the front of the sides, all you see is his head, although you can see his body if you look at the back of the ornament.  The bobsled is red on the sides with blue and white stripes on the front and blue trim.  Snoopy’s wearing a blue helmet with a white star on each side.  Woodstock is along for the ride.  He’s holding on for dear life to Snoopy’s helmet and wearing a small helmet of his own.  On the front of the ornament is a 25 in a white oval.

No, that isn’t a typo.  Instead of 22 for the year, they have 25 on the front of the bobsled.  But there’s a reason for that.  This is the twenty-fifth ornament in the series.  While they did a bit more for the Spotlight on Snoopy series, which also celebrate its twenty-fifth in 2022, it is nice to at least have that acknowledged on the front of the ornament here.  Yes, the series marker is on the bottom of the bobsled as well, although it is hard to read.

That’s because this is a miniature ornament.  It is a little bigger than most miniature ornaments, but still, it is small, only an inch and a half at the longest.  Keep that in mind when you go to buy the ornament, and you’ll be fine.

The ornament rests on the sled runners, which means that it does sit flat.  Just remember the size if you are thinking about setting it out to be displayed.  When you go to hang it, you’ll find that it hangs perfectly straight.

This is a fun addition to the series.  I love that it ties so perfectly to the Olympics and acknowledges the series milestone at the same time.  It’s those details that make it special.  And Woodstock holding on to Snoopy’s helmet like he is here really makes me smile.

If you enjoy winter sports or are a fan of this series, you’ll definitely be glad to add this ornament to your collection.

Bundle up for the rest of the Winter Fun with Snoopy ornaments.

Ornament Review: Spotlight on Snoopy 25th Anniversary - 2022 Hallmark Release

Stars: 4 out of 5
Pros: Fun Snoopy anniversary ornament
Cons: Balance issues
The Bottom Line:
Marking twenty-five
In Snoopy and Woodstock style
Fans will be happy

Raise a Root Beer Stein with Snoopy to Celebrate an Anniversary

This year marks a milestone for Hallmark’s Spotlight on Snoopy ornament series.  It has reached 25 years.  Naturally, that calls for a celebration, so Hallmark has released an extra ornament for fans to buy.

Like all the ornaments in this series, it features Snoopy and Woodstock.  They are decked out in their best – tuxes with red bow ties and top hats.  The bow ties and the silver bands on their hats have glitter on them.  And they both have steins of root beer in their hands.  Woodstock happens to be sitting on the rim of Snoopy’s stein.  Snoopy’s stein has 25 Years on the front.

And I love it.  Okay, I’m not the biggest fan of glitter just because it tends to get everywhere, but other than that, I really do like this ornament.  Which is a good thing since it is pricier than the entries in this series usually are.  It’s Snoopy celebrating as he would – with root beer.  And these two friends all dressed up in a hoot.

Yes, you can set this ornament out since Snoopy is standing on his own feet.  However, it’s not quite as sturdy as I expected it to be.  It will easily tip backwards, so keep that in mind when you decide where to put it.

On the other hand, when you go to hang it, you’ll find that it tips forward.  While that’s disappointing, I don’t see an option for where to put the loop where it won’t tip.  I suspect that with careful placement on your tree, you won’t notice.

Hallmark considers this a Special Edition ornament.  It’s not an official part of the series, and you won’t find a series marker on it.  However, it’s also not a Limited Edition ornament.  Stores were free to order however many they thought they’d sell.  If you want it, you don’t need to rush out and get it today, but I suspect it won’t be quite as plentiful as this year’s official series piece.

I can see this ornament appealing to casual Peanuts fans, however, those who have been collecting the Spotlight on Snoopy series will be especially glad that they picked up this 25th Anniversary ornament.

Here are the rest of the Spotlight on Snoopy ornaments.

Ornament Review: Happy 100th, Charles M. Schulz

Stars: 4 out of 5
Pros: Loving tribute to Schultz
Cons: Seams in Snoopy, noticeable tilt
The Bottom Line:
A tribute to Schultz
Sadly, does have couple flaws
This fan still loves it

A Wonderful Tribute to Charles Schultz

I’ve been a Peanuts fan as long as I can remember.  Kind of hard not to be when you grow up in Santa Rosa, where Charles Schultz lived for much of his career creating the strip.  So when I saw Happy 100th, Charles M. Schulz!, the limited edition ornament that Hallmark created to honor him this year for what would have been his one hundredth birthday, I knew I had to have it.  I wasn’t alone since this has proved to be the hardest ornament to get so far in 2022.  I’m certainly glad I got mine.

The ornament is fairly simple to look at, but the details are fun.  It is a cartoonist desk.  At the bottom is a recreation of the very first Peanuts strip.  It was a daily strip, and is presented in its original black and white.  There’s a pencil resting on it as if the cartoonist had been working on it.  While the strip is small, you can read it.  It helps that there aren’t a ton of words in the strip.

In the upper right corner is the final Peanuts strip that ever ran.  This was a Sunday strip, and Schulz used it to thank his fans for 50 years of support.  This strip is just a little smaller, and there are lots of words, so it is impossible to read what Schulz wrote.

The upper left corner has a flaw, sadly.  Sitting in the corner is a plush Snoopy, or what is supposed to be a plush Snoopy.  He’s actually plastic like the rest of the ornament.  Unfortunately, we can see some of the seams used to create him.  Fortunately, they are only noticeable when you are looking at him closely, and when you have this ornament on a tree, I doubt you’ll notice.  But it is truly disappointing that there is that flaw in an otherwise lovely ornament.

But, I’m still glad to have it.  It is a wonderful tribute to Schulz and his 50 years of laughs and love.  It’s hard to imagine the world without the impact his characters have had on it, isn’t it?

Since the ornament is really a miniature desk, you can set it out to be enjoyed year round.  It’s fairly stable, although I wouldn’t want it in an area where it might be hit and damaged.  I don’t think it could take too much abuse.

When you go to hang the ornament, you’ll find the other flaw in the ornament.  It tips noticeably to the right.  It will be easy enough to correct or disguise with some branches, but I’m a bit surprised you’ll need to do this.  The ring to hang the ornament is on the surface of the desk, so it seems like they could have moved it to a location where the ornament was better balanced.

As I said, this has been hugely popular, so if you are a Peanuts fan and you see it, I suggest you snag Happy 100th, Charles M. Schultz!  Fans won’t be truly bothered by the flaws.  I know I’m not.

Ornament Review: Jazzy, Snazzy Friends - Spotlight on Snoopy #25 - 2022 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Great looking ornament
Cons: Does tip a little
The Bottom Line:
We have jazzy fun
As Snoopy puts on concert
Woodstock helps, of course

It’s Time for a Great Concert from Joe Jazz

It’s a little hard to believe, but this year, we are hitting twenty-five Spotlight on Snoopy ornaments.  My collecting this series pre-dates my general Hallmark ornament collecting, but I haven’t quite been collecting it the entire time.  (I started a few years later, but I’m not sure which one was the first I bought.)  Snoopy is ready to celebrate with Jazzy, Snazzy Friends.

That’s right, this year Snoopy is treating us to a jazz concert.  He’s sitting at a piano prepared to start playing for us.  He’s wearing sun glasses, a red jacket with a black tie, and a black hat with a red ban on it.  Woodstock is standing on the piano ready to contribute as well on his bass.  He’s wearing matching hat and sun glasses.

Sadly, this ornament doesn’t come with any sound.  I’m torn on that.  The rest of the series doesn’t include sound, so it matches.  However, it would be cool to have a jazz song coming from it.  A Christmas song would be natural, but “Linus and Lucy” would be fun as well.

That aside, I do love how it looks.  Snoopy and Woodstock look cool, and it’s not something we’ve come close to seeing before.  After twenty-five ornaments, that’s hard to find.

I also love the fact that Snoopy is oversized for the piano.  It looks a little odd, but when you consider Schroder’s piano, it perfectly fits the Peanuts strip in general.  That makes me smile.

With Snoopy sitting at the piano, there’s a large flat surface, so the ornament can sit on its.  However, it isn’t completely flat, and the end of the piano sticks up a bit.  It’s not enough to make the ornament unstable, but it is worth noting.  It’s also not quite as steady as I thought it would be.  But as long as you aren’t bumping it, you should be okay.

As you’d expect, you’ll find the 25 in a Christmas tree series marker on the bottom as well.

The ornament does tip slightly when you go to hang it.  What surprised me is that it tips side to side and not front to back.  Still, it is slight, and when you get it surrounded by tree branches, you won’t notice.

Jazzy, Snazzy Friends is a fun entry to the Spotlight on Snoopy series.  It’s a great way to celebrate the milestone release in the series.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Spotlight on Snoopy series.

Ornament Review: Winter Fun with Snoopy #24 - Getting a Christmas Tree - 2021 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Humor and warm memories in this mini ornament
Cons: Slight tip back
The Bottom Line:
Chopping down a tree
Snoopy gets into the act
Miniature fun

Timber!!!!

While I have artificial Christmas trees now, a childhood memory of mine is going to a Christmas tree farm and selecting a tree that we’d cut down and bring home.  Honestly, we probably didn’t do it that many years, but I can certainly remember doing it.  Those memories came flooding back when looking at 2021’s entry in the Winter Fun with Snoopy ornament series.

You see, this year, Snoopy and Woodstock have just selected a Christmas tree.  Snoopy has it over his shoulder, and Woodstock is riding on it.  Snoopy’s carrying an ax in his other hand.  What I find funny is that Snoopy tried to go all woodsman to do it.  He’s wearing a green jacket, but the thing I find the funniest is his mustache.

Keep in mind that this is a miniature ornament, only about an inch and a half tall.  I’m wondering if Snoopy would have been wearing a plaid jacket if it were a regular sized ornament.  You can see the pattern on it if you look closely.  That’s about the only detail that might be missing thanks to the size.  As long as you keep the size in mind, you’ll be fine when you get it.

As I said, I find this ornament funny.  That fake mustache is the detail that gets me.  That, along with the memories of cutting down our own tree make this a winner.

Snoopy is standing in a small base made out of snow, so you can easily set this ornament out to be displayed if you so choose.  Keep in mind the size when you do that.  You’ll also find the 24 in a Christmas tree on the bottom if you look closely enough.

When you go to hang the ornament, you’ll find that it does tip back a little bit.  Honestly, it’s not that bad, so you won’t be too disappointed by it.

This is a fun entry to the Winter Fun with Snoopy series.  Now, go select a tree to hang the ornament on.

Here are the rest of the Winter Fun with Snoopy miniature ornaments.

Ornament Review: All Tangled Up - Spotlight on Snoopy Companion Piece - 2021 Hallmark Release

Stars: 4 out of 5
Pros: Great Charlie Brown Christmas moment
Cons: Should have been smaller
The Bottom Line:
Untangling the lights
Becomes more complicated
A large Charlie Brown

Christmas Lights in a Tangle Again?  Good Grief!

Over the last few years, Hallmark has offered a few limited-edition companion ornaments to the Spotlight on Snoopy series.  And each year, I tell myself I’m not going to buy the limited-edition ornament.  Premier comes around, and I cave and buy it.  That’s how I wound up with All Tangled Up.

This year’s Spotlight on Snoopy ornament is All Decked Out, and features Snoopy decorating himself like a Christmas tree.  This companion ornament features Charlie Brown, and it shows him in a much more realistic moment of Christmas decorating – trying to untangle the Christmas lights.

Of course, even at their worst, I haven’t had a year like Charlie Brown is having – at least not yet.  Somehow, in his attempts to untangle the lights, he’s gotten them tangled up around himself.  They are wrapped around him a few times, and it looks like he has a knot in front of him.  He’s holding out his hands as if he is still trying to separate them out, and he has a “What now” look on his face.  He has one ornament, in a pretty purple color, at his feet.

If this was going to happen to anyone, it would definitely be Charlie Brown.  That’s what makes me smile about the ornament.  While the lights don’t actually light up, they are clear, colored plastic, so they can catch the light, which adds to the fun of the ornament.

The one thing that throws me off is the size.  He’s sized to match the Spotlight on Snoopy ornament.  Since this is a companion piece, I get it.  But he’s huge, especially his head.  It takes away from the overall appeal of the ornament – at least for me.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the ornament, but I think small would have been better.

Since Charlie Brown is standing on his feet, he stands up just fine.  It would take a good bump to knock him over.

I was surprised that the ornament tipped back and to the right very minimally when I went to hang it.  You’d have to be watching to find it, and I’m sure once you get it in the branches on your tree, you’ll never notice.

I truly wish this ornament were smaller.  But that is my only complaint with All Tangled Up.  It captures Charlie Brown in a moment that is perfect for him.

Ornament Review: All Decked Out - Spotlight on Snoopy #24 - 2021 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Creative, fun, Christmassy
Cons: None for me
The Bottom Line:
Snoopy as a tree
Fun Christmas series entry
A creative piece

Snoopy’s Substituting for Your Christmas Tree This Year

Since Hallmark’s Spotlight on Snoopy series is focused on Snoopy and not necessarily Christmas, we’ve had many entries that aren’t specific to the holiday.  As a fan of Peanuts and Snoopy, I haven’t minded in the slightest.  However, with All Decked Out, the entry for 2021, we are definitely getting a Christmas themed ornament.

You see, this year, Snoopy has decided to decorate himself for Christmas.  He’s wrapped a string of green and red lights around himself.  He’s holding a red ornament.  Even Woodstock has gotten into the act since he’s standing on Snoopy’s head and holding a star.

This is such a cute ornament.  No, it’s not incredibly detailed or complex, but it doesn’t have to be.  It makes me smile when I look at it, which is one thing I look for when I look at Hallmark ornaments.

It helps that the lights are clear.  While they don’t actually light up, they will let light through, so if you have this ornament in the right light, we can see patches of red and green on Snoopy.

As is usually the case, Snoopy is standing on his own two feet, which means you can set the ornament out to display.  It’s not as steady as I expected, so if the area where you are putting the ornament is going to be bumped regularly, Snoopy will fall over.

Of course, that’s not an issue if you plan to hang the ornament on your tree.  Snoopy tips forward ever so slightly when you go to hang him.  It’s only really noticeable if you are looking for it, and by the time you get some tree branches around the ornament, you won’t notice at all.

Since this is the twenty-fourth ornament in the series (can’t believe the number’s that high), you’ll find the series marker on the bottom of Snoopy’s feet.

I’m really pleased with All Decked Out.  This is a fun addition to the Spotlight on Snoopy series that I’ll enjoy for a long time to come.

Ornament Review: Linus - 2020 Hallmark Mini Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Captures Linus perfectly in a miniature ornament
Cons: Only if you aren’t expecting a miniature ornament
The Bottom Line:
Linus goes skating
Miniature ornament
Perfectly captures

Linus is Securely Skating

One thing I enjoyed about the miniature ornaments of the Peanuts gang skating that Hallmark released last year was that the character’s personalities came through.  Nowhere was that more evident than with Linus.

If you know Linus, you know what to expect.  Yes, he’s skating, and he’s in his typical orange coat and green hat.  And what else does he have with him?  His trusty security blanket, of course.  He’s holding it in his left hand, and he’s sucking the thumb on his right hand.  And yes, he’s skating out on the ice confidently.

Linus, in many ways, is the character who just goes with the flow the most in the Peanuts comic strip, and that’s what I feel is captured here.  And I love it for that reason.  He’s doing his thing and enjoying it.

Once again, I will point out this is a miniature ornament.  Linus is only about an inch in size.  When you consider that, it makes it even more outstanding that they so expertly captured not only Linus’s looks but personality.

Linus is gliding on one of his skates, so this ornament won’t stand on its own.  Given the size, you might not want to set it out anyway.  It’s not a problem since it hangs perfectly straight.

If you like Peanuts and miniature ornaments, you’ll want to track down Linus.  I know I’m glad I have him in my collection.

Ornament Review: Lucy - 2020 Hallmark Mini Ornament

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Lucy captured skating
Cons: None of you remember it’s a mini ornament
The Bottom Line:
Lucy goes skating
Confidently gliding pose
Mini ornament

Lucy Confidently Glides onto Your Mini Tree

In 2020, Hallmark released three Peanuts characters as mini ornaments.  They crafted these ornaments as if the characters were ice skating, and infused their personalities into each of them.  Lucy was one of those lucky characters, and her ornament is wonderful.

The ornament depicts Lucy confidently gliding across the ice.  She’s on her left foot with her right foot behind her.  Her arms are outstretched and she has a smile on her face.  While Lucy traditionally wears dark blue, she’s wearing a light blue coat in this ornament with a lavender hat on her head to help keep her head warm.

Lucy in the comics is always confident, even when she is wrong.  I can easily see her out skating, enjoying herself.  She definitely appears to know what she is doing as she is the one of the three characters enjoying herself the most.

I’ve mentioned this is a miniature ornament, right?  Because if you aren’t expecting that, you’ll be surprised.  It’s just over an inch tall.  But if you keep that in mind, you’ll be happy with the detail we get.

Since Lucy is skating, this ornament won’t stand on its own.  But that’s okay because it is easier to lose mini ornaments if you set them out.  Personally, I like putting them on the mini trees I’ve bought.  It’s much harder for them to get lost that way.  No surprise, but Lucy hangs straight when you put her on your tree.  Could you imagine Lucy accepting anything less?

This Lucy ornament proves that good things come in small packages.  If you are a Peanuts fan and looking for some miniature ornaments, this is definitely one to check out.

Ornament Review: Winter Fun with Snoopy #23 - Sleigh Ride - 2020 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Christmas twist on a winter activity
Cons: Does tip to one side
The Bottom Line:
Going for sleigh ride
Adding a fun Christmas twist
In fun mini piece

Time for a Sleigh Ride Just Like Santa

The ornaments in Hallmark’s Winter Fun with Snoopy series have included both Christmas activities and general winter activities.  This year, they are combining the two by putting a Christmas twist on a fun winter activity.

You see, Snoopy and Woodstock are enjoying a sleigh ride.  Or at least Woodstock is enjoying one.  Snoopy is pulling the sleigh with Woodstock sitting inside.  Based on the smiles they both have, I think both of them are enjoying it.

But what makes this ornament Christmassy?  Snoopy is wearing a pair of reindeer antlers on his head and Woodstock is wearing a Santa hat.  I don’t see any toys, but we can pretend they are out delivering some toys.  Or they are just having fun dressing up as they wait for Christmas day.

Either way, this is a fun ornament.  I like the fact that it makes a sleigh ride something with a definite Christmas feel to it.  Living in Southern California, I pretty much only associate sleigh rides with Christmas as it is thanks to Christmas music, but there’s no denying that this is a Christmas activity.

What I haven’t mention yet is that this is a miniature ornament.  Fans of the series won’t be surprised since this has always been a miniature ornament series.  Snoopy is a little over an inch tall, and the sleigh makes this a little over an inch wide.  As long as you know that, you’ll be fine.  The detail is fantastic for the size, so I’m not complaining.

Snoopy and the sleigh are both in snow, and that snow forms the base of the ornament.  You can set it out or add it to a display as long as you aren’t setting it some place where it can get lost or broken.  I’d worry about that because of the size.  Speaking of the base, you’ll find the series marker on the bottom.  With a 23 inside a Christmas tree, it’s pretty hard to see, but I trust that it is correct.

The loop for hanging the ornament is in the middle of Snoopy’s head.  Since the loop isn’t centered, I’m not surprised that the ornament tips slightly to one side.  It isn’t too bad, however, and a well placed tree branch will disguise it.

I love the twist that Hallmark put on a sleigh ride for this Christmas ornament.  That makes this year’s Winter Fun with Snoopy a winner for me.

Ornament Review: Charlie Brown - Mini Ornament - 2020 Hallmark Release

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Great looking mini Charlie Brown ornament
Cons: None for me
The Bottom Line:
Charlie Brown skating
Makes fun mini ornament
Hope to get the rest

Don’t Worry, Charlie Brown, You Make a Great Mini Ornament

Since I’ve been collecting the Winter Fun with Snoopy series, I have lots of mini ornament featuring Snoopy and Woodstock.  I don’t have any with the rest of the Peanuts gang, so I was thrilled to see several of the characters pop up this year.  I wasn’t the only one, since my store sold out of them right away.  The only one I was able to snag – for now – is Charlie Brown.

The characters are all ice skating for these miniature ornaments.  Charlie Brown looks like he is not super comfortable with this sport.  He’s on his back foot with one foot out in front of him.  His arms are out to the side, and he has a very worried look on his face.  It’s almost like he is struggling to keep his balance but is about to fall over.

Speaking of falling over, if you try to set this ornament out, it will fall over.  With just one leg to stand on, and an ice skate blade on the bottom of his foot, this doesn’t really surprise me.

I love this little ornament.  Even though I think of Charlie Brown as a good skater thanks to the Christmas special, I can see him struggling at times, so this seems to be in character.  Couple that with blue pants and a red jacket, and he looks great.

I’m mentioned this is a mini ornament, so it shouldn’t be a surprise when I tell you he is only an inch tall.  Yet we can still see detail on his jacket and the expression on his face is plain.  As long as you know the size before you get this ornament, you’ll be fine.

The impression that Charlie Brown is falling is heightened when you go to hang him on your tree.  The loop is off center in his hat, and the result is that he tips to the side.  However, it looks good.  It really does look like his is falling, so I’m sure it is on purpose.

Since we are still early in Hallmark’s ornament season, I’m hopeful that I can snag the other two Peanuts minis in the next few months.  I’m very happy I was at least able to snag Charlie Brown right now.

Ornament Review: The Merriest House in Town - 2019 Hallmark Ornament

Stars: 5 out of 5
Pros: Peanuts add fun to this decorated house
Cons: Doesn’t interact with other ornaments
The Bottom Line:
Peanuts add to fun
Of decorations galore
Great lights and music

A Merry House with a Peanuts Twist

I can’t seem to resist buying Hallmark’s crazy house ornaments.  Each year, I think I’m going to resist, and each year they suck me in again.  They got me this year when they added a Peanuts twist to The Merriest House in Town.

The ornaments in this unofficial series are all inspired by the houses we’ve seen, in videos if not real life, of houses that go all out at Christmas with coordinated lights and music.  This particular home owner is obviously a Peanuts fan since they’ve added some Peanuts elements to the fun.  On top of the house is a giant inflatable Snoopy.  Caroling around the bird bath in the front of the house are Woodstock and two friends.  There are some non-Peanuts elements, too, like a regular looking snowman in the yard and a sign that says “Joy” on the front of the house.  And, of course, there are lights.  All the sides are covered with lights and there are bigger lights on the roof.  The bigger lights on the roof are red and green, while the smaller lights on the rest of the house are all white.

Completing the Peanuts theme is the music.  When you press the button on the side of the ornament, you’ll hear “Linus and Lucy” and watch as the lights flash in time with the music.  If the name of the song doesn’t ring any bells, this is the instrumental jazz number that plays during A Charlie Brown Christmas and some other Peanuts specials.  Trust me, after a couple of notes, you’ll know exactly what it is.

To get the show to play, you’ll need to plug this ornament into one of Hallmark’s new power cords (sold separately).  Again, that is my only complaint with this ornament.  The power cord is designed for some great shows when you hooked related ornaments up to it.  However, for the stand alone ornaments, I miss this element.  I actually preferred these houses attached to the older Magic Cord, which allowed all the ornaments on a particular strand to flash in time to the music when you started any ornament attached.

The ornament has a nice flat base.  What house doesn’t?  So if you want to set these ornaments out to be displayed, you can easily do that.  When you go to hang it on your tree, you’ll find it hangs straight.

I wish that The Merriest House in Town interacted with other ornaments somehow.  But that doesn’t diminish my enjoyment of the ornament in the slightest.
