July 5th's Weekly TV Thoughts

Just as my summer TV season was starting to get going full tilt, several shows take the week off for the 4th.  (Although why a show would take a Monday of when the holiday isn't until the following Friday....)  But here is what I thought about what I watched this week.

As always, feel free to chime in with your comments on these or any shows you watch in the comments.  Or leave me a link to your thoughts posted on your blog.

Wipeout - I'm not trying to remember if the Nerds or the Hotties usually win this competition.  Can't argue with the winner this time around, she was one of the most athletic people I've seen on the show period - definitely for this episode.

24: Live Another Day - Wow, they keep killing off people I think are going to be a villain until the end.  But boy is everyone in serious trouble right now.  I can't wait to see how they get them out of it and keep us coming back for the final hour.  I also love how they brought in a new villain with ties to Jack and Audrey.  That was a wonderful twist that will play on all the characters for the final two hours.

Royal Pains - I've always enjoyed Boris, so it's nice to see them really developing his character.  I hope he pops up again more during the season.  And it's interesting to see Ben interested in a woman other than Divya.  I can't wait to see how that plays out.  Still not sure what I think of the new sister.

Covert Affairs - Not nearly as gripping or emotional as last week's, although I don't think I could have taken another one like that.  But what is up with Annie's heart condition.  How long has she had it?  I'm very curious to see where they go with that story.

Mystery Girls - Still way over the top and still way cheesy, but someone this one was a little more entertaining.  Maybe because I knew what to expect going in?  I'll keep watching because of the stars, but it's not great television, that's for sure.

  1. I hadn't realized that Mystery Girls has started airing. I had thought it sounded like it would be interesting.

    1. We've had two episodes now, and we have yet to actually see the pilot. Even so, the premise holds so much promise but the execution doesn't hold up, unfortunately.
