August 28th's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

This again for this week's Book Beginnings and Friday 56.

This week, the book is Trick or Deceit by Shelley Freydont.



Yes, I'm continuing in the Halloween theme.  This book will actually be published on September 1st, but I'm reading it for review and giveaway next Thursday.

I must admit, the book doesn't jump out there with the best first line:

Liv Montgomery stopped at the bottom of the town hall steps to button her jacket.

However, on page 56, we find this:

Liv was just thinking, Whew, almost home free, when a cry arose from the park across the street.

And there you have it for the week.

      Honestly, the opening isn't that good. But in this case, don't judge the book by it's opening.

    The 56 definitely wins for most intriguing. I just read a historical mystery from Freydont and really enjoyed it. I can't wait to try this series!

    The beginning isn't really grabbing my attention, but the F56 is definitely more enticing! Will you be keeping up the Halloween tradition until it's actually Halloween? Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great week!

      I think this is my last Halloween book for the year. It's a shame I didn't save one until closer to Halloween, but it wasn't meant to be this year I guess.
