We Wish You a Playful Piano
When you only have three band members, what ornaments you
pick is determined by what you want to play.
And if you are leaning toward jazz, you definitely want to pick a
piano. So it makes sense that Hallmark’s
penguin trio includes a Playful Piano.
This is one of three ornaments Hallmark released in 2017
that uses their new Keepsake Power Cord.
This cord allows ornaments to play a clip individually, but to add to
the fun when you have more of the ornaments.
In this case, we have three penguins playing Christmas carols for us.
The instruments are supposed to be carved out of ice, and
the piano is the one that most looks that way.
You can see the imperfections in the instrument caused by the fact that
it is ice, and I love that detail. This
penguin also looks like he is having the most fun of the trio. His beak is open and his eyes are shut like
he is smiling. I love both of those
details.
What song does he play?
When you press the button on the front of the ornaments, you’ll find
that he plays “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
It’s a fun piano rendition of the song, and the light inside the piano,
which always glows, changes color and pulses in time to the song. The song itself lasts about 20 seconds.
Of course, when you add the other two ornaments to the set,
you’ll discover that they can contribute to the song. The piano still has the lead on this song,
but the others help full in the sound.
The song still lasts 20 seconds, but it is a fuller sound. And the lights interact as well.
Fun fact, I discovered these ornaments don’t have to be on
the same cord to interact. I had them
plugged in across the room at one-point last fall, and they interacted just
fine. Not sure what the range is, but if
is something to keep in mind.
The ornament has a large base, so you can set them out if
you so desire. Or you can hang the
ornament on your tree. When you do,
you’ll find that he tips slightly to one side, but overall that’s minor.
These ornaments won me over with one button push. I just had to get them to enjoy for Christmas
to come. Playful Piano is sure to make
you smile as much as the penguin does.
