I am currently about 100 pages from the end of Exile: Keeper of the Lost Cities #2 by Shannon Messenger. And if you haven't found this great series of middle grade fantasy books, you need to start reading them right now. They are high addicting and very well done. I'll have a formal review of this book up on Sunday.
But for now, shall we get to the excerpts?
This book has a prologue and I'm going to include the first sentence of that and chapter one.
Preface: Sophie's hands shook as she lifted the tiny green bottle. One swallow held life and death - and not just for her.
Chapter 1: "I still can't believe we're tracking Bigfoot," Sophie whispered.
And then jumping ahead to page 56....
"You don't have to come today," he told Sophie after a second. "It's not an easy thing to do-"
So there you have it. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go read a bit more of it.
Bigfoot does catch my eye.:)
ReplyDeleteIf you like fantasy like that, you'll love these books.

ReplyDeleteI seem to be finding more and more Middle Grade and YA to read that I'm really enjoying. It's great!
DeleteI found it interesting that "one swallow held life AND death." I've read some good YA books recently, and I'm getting into the genre. This sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteMy post today features FLY OR FALL.
That does make sense when you get to the scene in context. And it is a good book.
DeleteTracking Bigfoot AND a unicorn on the cover?! :D Definitely sounds like a great read!!
