Book Beginnings and Friday 56 for January 23rd

I was going to have this post up early and go to bed early.  No really.  You can all stop laughing now.

But here's my Book Beginnings and Friday 56 for the week, which features Geared for the Grave by Duffy Brown.




And it begins with:

While cowering in the back of a ferryboat, head over railing and losing my lunch in Lake Huron, it occurred to me that no matter how old I am, I want to impress my parents.

And from page 56:

I yanked out Sheldon, who really did know it all - that's why I named my iPhone Sheldon - and Googled Speed Maslow jerk.  Okay, I left off the jerk part, but I was thinking it.

I'm hoping to finish up this book today so I can have the review up next week.

    Heey Mark, how are you doing? I haven't dropped by in a while but I'm glad I'm back on the Friday-meme train because this book sounds really fun! I love that he named his phone, I still haven't gotten to that stage because it keeps letting me down! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you enjoy your weekend!

      I do believe this was the first time I'd run across someone naming their phone, but being a Big Bang Theory fan, I loved it.

    We name our cars and boats, but I really never thought of naming my phone. LOL I have ridden a ferry on Lake Huron more than once. Another reason to make me want to read the book. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

      Yes, naming phones doesn't seem that common, but it should could make for some fun with people who don't know you've done that.

    Another delightful cozy! I smiled when I read that he'd named his phone Sheldon. Sounds like a fun story.

    This is an author I've been wanting to try for awhile. I have her first book in another series but I'm looking forward to trying this series as well.

    LOL I love Sheldon! This sounds like some sassy fun. And that cover art makes me think it would be a great jigsaw puzzle. I love puzzles with lots of color and objects.I have a few puzzles that are mysteries. You read the scenario, make the puzzle with no idea what it looks like, and use the clues in the finished puzzle to solve the mystery.

      I've tried a few of those puzzles. Sadly, I'm not that good at figuring them out, but they are fun to put together.
