February 18th's Sunday/Monday Post

Welcome to this week's Sunday/Monday Post.  I will be linking up to:

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Who else watched the Super Bowl last weekend?  I went over to a friend's house for the game.  I said I was okay with which ever team won.  I grew up in Northern California in 49ers territory, but Patrick Mahommes has been my quarterback in fantasy for several years.  So I could root for either one, right?  Given how disappointed I was when the Chiefs won, I think I was rooting for the 49ers to pull it off.  They played well.  It's hard to complain about a game that goes to overtime, right?  And I'm not really upset that the Chiefs won.  It just would have been nice for the 9ers to win one.

Not much else has been going on this week.  I went to the dentist on Friday.  Exciting, right?  And Saturday morning was my walking book club.  We meet every two weeks.

Pun of the Week:

A three-legged dog walks into a frontier saloon, sidles up to the bar, and announces, “I’m looking for the man who shot my paw.”

Book Haul:

It was another three book week.  Hopefully, I can continue to keep things moderately under control.

Up first is Lone Wolf by Gregg Hurwitz.  While his Orphan X series isn't quite as good as it was at the beginning, I still enjoy it and want to keep up with it.  This is the most recent, which was released this week, and my preorder arrived.

I won a copy of Death Dive from Kait Carson.  She was giving away an ebook copy when she was a guest over at The Wickeds.  I have the first book around here somewhere.  I need to dust it off and get it read. A scuba diver in Florida is the main character of this series, and that certain appeals to me.

Finally, I have Saguaro by Sandy Dengler.  This is the newest in her Jack Prester series set in various National Parks.  I'm hoping to catch up on them this year.  I have three to go, but I can't read them if I don't own them, right?  I used some Kindle points to help with this one.

What I'm Currently Reading:

As I type this Saturday night, I'm about two thirds of the way through Murder Out of Character by Olivia Matthews.  This is the second (and final) book in the Peach Coast Library Mysteries.  I'm enjoying it and hope to finish it on Sunday.

That means Monday, I'll be working on Take the Honey and Run by Jennie Marts.  I've heard lots of great things about this book, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

That wraps things up here.  Hope you have a great rest of your weekend (and enjoy an extra day off if you have a long one) and have a great week.

  1. I'm always hoping I can keep the book hauls moderately under control! I have to restrain myself from choosing more on NetGalley and not signing up for too many blog tours. Have a good reading week!

  2. I love a good scuba dive mystery. And we watched the Super Bowl too, and same... we didn't really have a fave so we were alright with whoever pulld it out.

  4. I can't get over how much I love the idea of a walking book club. I love that it's both fun and healthy, and if I'm talking books, I wouldn't even realize I was exercising! I'm glad you're enjoying it and going regularly!

  6. I don't know much about the Super Bowl. It sounds exciting though!

I've booked my dentist appointment for April - it makes the year fly by!

    Your current reads look interesting.

Have a good week next week.

  8. Lucklily this week i only got one arc in the mail. I did pick up one library hold the will of many it sounds very good but it a dense book. I have a few arcs creeping up that are coming out in march so i need to focus on getting those completed. Murder out of character sounds like a intersting book title.

  9. I watched the Super Bowl and I cared more about the commercials and Usher's halftime show. I really enjoyed this year's commercials and halftime show!

  10. I didn't watch the game, but somehow, even though I am a Californian, I seem to know a ton of Chiefs fans.

  11. I sort of watched the Superbowl game and didn't care who won. I couldn't decide if the the Chiefs winning would mean that Maga-heads would go crazy if they won or lost. What a topsy-turvy world we live in.

  12. I know nothing about American football other than it’s nothing like our Aussie version. I do generally seek out the Superbowl ads on YouTube though.

Wishing you a great reading week

  13. I completely missed the Super Bowl, but I have no regrets.

I love that joke! I'm such a big fan of silly jokes.

  14. I also didn't care who won the Super Bowl. It was mostly just background noise while I ate snacks. I hope you have a great week!

  15. The Super Bowl was exciting. I didn't really care who won either. Your books look good too. I'm doing okay with purchases, but I can't seem to resist adding review books to my stack. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  16. I don't have any interest in football but my husband is a huge Dolphins fan so I'm at least a little aware of what's going on in the NFL. I was on my laptop while my husband watched the Super Bowl but I looked up every now and then for the commercials and halftime. I was vaguely rooting for the 49ers, just because I quickly get tired of one team dominating the headlines. Oh well.

I read Orphan X years ago as an ARC but never read any of the following books, though I liked it pretty well. It's just too hard to keep up with all the series I start.

    Have a great week!

  17. We had the Super Bowl on, but I didn't watch much. Hubby didn't care who won, but likes to watch football. Got into it when the Patriots were amazing.

Nice book haul. Hope you enjoy them.

  18. I didn't watch the game although I made some cookies just in case.
I like your book haul. I have the 2nd Orphan X book in my line up. Death Dive in Florida is right up my alley. Hope you enjoy all of your reading!

  19. I watched the Super Bowl through the halftime show. I probably would have watched the whole game if it didn't finish so late on the east coast. Looks like I missed the most exciting part of the game. I'm glad your dentist appointment wasn't all that exciting. Hopefully that means everything went well. I just started reading Betrayal in the Bay, by Cindy Quayle. It's the second in the series (Death on Cozumel Island is the first). The second one involves scuba diving in California, so you might like that one too. (But I definitely recommend reading the first one first.) Have a great week. :)

  21. I live in SEC land so the overwhelming focus is on college football so I don't have a ride or die NFL team. I do like Brock Purdy though. The fact that "Mr. Irrelevant" keeps going to Super Bowls just makes me happy. Take the Honey and Run looks like a fun cozy. I have my eye on that series. I hope you're having a great week!
