This week's book is the first in a new series - The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco by Laura DiSilverio.
The book actually comes out on Tuesday, but I am reading it for review next Friday. Yes, I'm working a bit ahead. But if you come back then, I'll have a giveaway as well. It's a great book, at least so far. I'm almost 2/3 of the way through and loving it.
And here's how it begins:
The white suit was a bad idea. I knew it when I bought it at the outlet mall, but it was 75 percent off and the A-line skirt disguised the extra ten pounds that tend to cling to my thighs. I knew it when I put it on, but the forecast was for an unseasonable ninety degrees in Heaven, Colorado.
I'm going to cheat a little on the 56 and actually take something from page 55. Page 56 is description and setting up the next scene. Not a bad page, but nothing teaser worthy. However, on page 55, we get this:
The [person] I'd known for almost twenty years would never have killed herself, and I was going to prove it. Somehow.
That's it for this week. Have a wonderful Easter weekend.
Looks promising from your teasers

I was already familiar with the author, but that title really grabbed me as well.
DeleteThis does sound good. I'll be eager to see your thoughts. I'm on the Friday 56 linky if you want to visit. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe end was great as well.
DeleteThis series is on my TBR and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm especially curious about the 56!
ReplyDeleteConsidering how similar our tastes are, I'm sure you'll love it.
DeleteIntriguing 56! I have a thing for falcons, (Peregrines'), as they pass over my house regularly.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter weekend!
In this case, the falcon refers to The Maltese Falcon, which the club is reading at the beginning of the book.
DeleteWhat is usually a bad idea. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the 56.
ENJOY....I like this cozy too.
Have a great weekend.

OOPS...I meant WHITE, not WHAT.
DeleteI've definitely seen white turn out to be a bad idea in the past. Yet I still wear white shirts.
