We've made it to Friday! Is it just me, or are the weeks getting longer all the time? Anyway, it is time for Book Beginnings and Friday 56.
Before we get there, I'm going to do a brief ad. I run a similarly themed group on Facebook - First Line Monday. The idea is, every Monday, the members post the first line of what they are reading. It's open to all readers, so I hope you'll come join us.
Meantime, shall we get to this week's book? I'm going to feature Murder Outside the Lines by Krista Davis.
I have so many books coming out this month that I'm already working on books that come out at the end of September. So this is a very early tease. I'll be reviewing it next week on Thursday, so I hope you'll come back by and see what I thought of it.
Meanwhile, here's how the book begins:
The crate was delivered to Color Me Read around noon on Thursday. Most of our deliveries came to the bookstore from publishing companies and looked quite ordinary, compared with this box. Our regular delivery guy, Glen, plunked it on the checkout desk and wiped his hands against each other as if they were dirty.
Meanwhile, on page 56, we get this quote:
The professor hung his head and I could hear a big sigh. He turned slightly and caught sight of me.
"Don't tell me you're joining the insanity, too," he grumbled.
That's it for this week. Have a great weekend, everyone.
I would find it so difficult not to colour in that cover! I did kind of fall into the adult colouring craze early in the pandemic, so maybe I should pick this one up. The beginning is very calm and descriptive, which makes me guess there's a major twist coming! I hope you have a lovely weekend :)
