November 8th's Book Beginnings and Friday 56

Traffic has been the worst this week.  I am so happy it is Friday.  And while I do have work on Monday, at least traffic will be a breeze.

But that's Monday.  We're here to do Book Beginnings and Friday 56.  So let's get to it, shall we?

This week's book is The House of Hades by Rick Riordan.  I know, I know, I'm the last person on earth to finally get it read.  But I will have my review up on Sunday.  It was really good.  Anyway, it starts like this:

During the third attack, Hazel almost ate a boulder.

And jumping to some other characters, on page 56 we find:

Annabeth didn't want to think about it, but sadly, this squad of flesh-eating horror-show women might be the closest thing to good luck they were ever going to get in Tartarus.

Since this is book four in a second series about these characters, I don't recommend jumping in here.  But the series are both really quite fun and worth reading.

    1. It does make sense when you realize this is a fantasy series. In context, these are perfectly normal things. Well, maybe not quite normal, but explainable.

    1. Very glad to hear I'm not the last one to read it. I didn't wind up getting it until late since I pre-ordered with a book that came out a couple of weeks later. Gotta use that free shipping!
