This week I'm featuring Murder on the Bluffs by Edith Maxwell.
I just finished the book tonight. Actually, this is an ARC and the real book doesn't come out until Tuesday. My review will also go live that day.
The book starts with:
I turned away from the teller when a man in work clothes pushed open a frosted glass office door in the Ashford Credit Union and stalked with heavy feet back into the main lobby of the bank.
Moving ahead to page 56, we find:
As we passed the house, a man emerged from the back and slammed the screen door behind him. He glanced at us but didn't seem to recognize me.
Want to know more? Come back on Tuesday!
Interesting book you got there :)

Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSounds good, Mark. I didn't know Edith wrote under this name. I featured Ellie Grant today.
ReplyDeleteEdith is about to have a third name, too (sometime next year). Makes it hard to keep up with it all, doesn't it?
DeleteGood way to start a mystery/suspense! Thanks for sharing and happy Friday! :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my book beginning!
It does grab your attention, doesn't it?
DeleteThat's a good opening. I'm wondering if the man in work clothes is also the man in your Friday 56. I'll be watching for your review.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features DEAR SUGAR.
That is a natural question, isn't it? My lips are seal.
DeleteSounds like a pretty good way to start a book. And now I wonder who is the man in the 56 quote.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday 56
My plot to get people wondering about any connection between those men definitely worked. :)
DeleteThe 56 intrigued me... who is the man?
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
You'll have to wait until the books comes out to find out. I'm not telling. :)
DeleteIs someone following that person? Intriguing.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS for sharing.

And interesting idea. That was one connection I hadn't thought of when I posted this.
DeleteI'm definitely intrigued as I can never resist a cozy. I'll be back Tuesday to see what you thought of the book!
ReplyDeleteIt would be easier to resist cozies if they weren't so fun, wouldn't it?
