May 6th's Friday Post

Welcome to Friday.  We made it!  This week, I'll be participating in several Friday events.

Book Beginnings
First Line Friday
Friday 56
Book Blogger Hop

For the first three, I will be featuring The Shadow of Memory by Connie Berry.

Yes, this is a mystery.  It's the fourth in the Kate Hamilton mystery series, in fact.

Let's start with Book Beginnings and First Line Friday.  Here's how the book begins:

The last place one expects to find a dead body is a graveyard.  Above ground, I mean.

Isn't that a wonderful opening?  I loved it immediately.  Meanwhile, the teaser for Friday 56 comes from page 56 of the ARC I read:

"Will Parker told Jayne at the Magpies that he saw someone in the village he thought he knew - someone who shouldn't be there.  It might have been his killer."

Don't worry, that's not a spoiler.  Will is the dead body we didn't expect to find in the opening line.

The book officially comes out on Tuesday.  I hope you'll come back that day to read my review.  The short version is, I loved this book, which isn't a huge surprise since I've enjoyed the previous three.

Time to wrap things up with the Book Blogger Hop.  This week's question is:

Have you ever participated in a book tour?

I'll confess that my list of "Upcoming Book Tour Stops" is really more just a calendar of books I've agreed to review and the date I'm planning to post the review.

However, I have participated in several of the Great Escapes Book Tours over the years I've had my blog.  I don't remember if I've ever participated in any other official tours, although I have signed up with a few other people who host book tours.  Just never saw anything that grabbed me when I had time to read them.  I try to keep some time for reading the books I continue to buy in my schedule, after all.

  6. That first line is so good. I have participated in a few blog tours and have enjoyed them. I just don't have as much time as I used to have for them anymore.

  7. Signing up with book tour groups can be overwhelming. I feel I should say yes to books they offer then I sometimes resent having to read the book even though I have only myself to blame. But, I only work with TLC books and the ones they offer me are always good

  13. From When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer:
For as long as I could remember, my mama had told me that my life was a gift. But at the age of nineteen, I had yet to see how this life I was living – or rather, the lives I was living – could be anything other than a burden.

  14. I love that cover. I'm just starting Wildfire Threat by Cathy McDavid: "Aden Whitley stepped out of his truck and into a cloud of smoke thick and heavy enough to fell a man twice his size."

But posted about Fatal Cody by Natalie Walters: https://daniellegrandinetti.com/2022/05/06/fatal-code/

    Happy Weekend!

  15. I just finished this and loved it so much! I used to do blog tours quite a bit but lately have taken a step back and am now taking books only from publishers I've worked with in the past or just reading books that catch my interest.
