This week, I'm going with Maple Mayhem by Jessie Crockett. I'm planning to finish the book today and I'll have a review with giveaway up on Monday.
This is the second in the Sugar Grove mysteries about the youngest in a family of maple syrup farmers.
The book starts out with:
I slid out from behind the wheel and gently closed my car door. It had taken weeks for the local mechanic to repair my baby after it lost a cage match with a cassowary but it had been worth the wait.
And from page 56:
"Of course Knowlton will be there. He has a collection of troll dolls and lucky daubers he uses just for meat bingo."
There you have it. As I said, look for the review and giveaway on Monday.
Ooh imagine being part of a maple syrup farmer family! I'm imagining the baby he's referring to is not an actual baby xD Also, collections of troll dolls are a bit creepy! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend.

No, the "baby" is definitely a car.
DeleteHave a great weekend, too.
Troll dolls and meat bingo. Sounds fun and I can't resist a new cozy. Looking forward to your review.

I had a hard time putting it down when I got to the second half, that's for sure.
DeleteOkay, Knowlton sounds like an interesting character!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday 56
Interesting is definitely one way of putting it.
DeleteCage match? Cassowary? Meat Bingo? What ARE those things? I'd keep reading just to find out.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to my Friday post: Beach House Memories.
Then my choice of sentences has worked well.
DeleteMeat Bingo???
ReplyDeleteThat was my reaction when it first came up in the book. My exact reaction.

ReplyDeleteTell us what meat BINGO is please. :) Do you win meat for a prize?

Somebody answered her own question. :)
DeleteI love the descriptive opener--interesting way to describe a little accident. Here's my Friday Memes Post.
ReplyDeleteActually, that refers to something that happened in the previous book, and it really wasn't a little accident.
DeleteI've been interested in this series and the beginning and 56 definitely sound entertaining. The idea of all those troll dolls is definitely on the creepy side and I have no idea what meat bingo is. I'll definitely have to check out the book and your review!
ReplyDeleteThe trolls are there for good luck. I actually didn't find them that creepy despite who was using them.
DeleteI have to Google cassowary....
ReplyDeleteI love maple syrup. Even went to a farm as a child with my school. It's what we do here in Canada... lol
Happy weekend!
I love maple syrup, too. This book can give you some wicked cravings.
