This week, I'm reading Scene of the Climb by Kate Dyer-Seeley.
That's right. I'm trying some fitness/outdoors cozies to work off the calories I gain from reading the culinary cozies. I'll let you know if it works.
Anyway, the book starts off like this:
My fingernails dug into the soggy dirt as my body lurched closer to the sheer cliff face. I desperately jabbed deeper into the ground for traction. It didn't work.
That certainly grabs you, doesn't it?
And from page 56:
Once I dragged myself off this rock face I was going to have to brush up on my investigative skills and get to the bottom of the real story behind Race the States.
Are the two related? You'll have to read the book to find out.
I never thought of reading to burn off calories. Love that idea.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a cute book. Love that beginning. Might have to add this one to my wish list.

If only reading would really work at burning calories, right?
DeleteThat's funny. Let me know if it works. I love cozy mysteries and your teases got my attention. Happy reading.

Doesn't seem to have worked so far. Maybe if I read another couple exercise cozies....
DeleteSounds interesting and the cover is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my 56 here.
Yes, the cover is wonderful, isn't it?
DeleteReading off the calories? I wish :-) lol. Your offerings caught my interest.
ReplyDeleteIf only it really worked that way, right?
DeleteLove your reasoning for reading this! I read this a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward already to the next in the series!
ReplyDeleteI just finished it and enjoyed it, too. Now I have to wait for the next one.
DeleteIs reading it helping you loose weight? That's a marketing angle the publisher should consider!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the book! Here's my Friday 56.
If it really worked, I'm sure the publishers would be all over it.
DeleteRock-climbing itself would be exciting! Sounds like a good read.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
It was more hiking than rock-climbing, but it was great none-the-less.
DeleteLOL I'd like to know if that works because most of the czoies I've been reading have recipes! Got this one on my kindle.

Well, it did burn off the pretend calories I dreamed about eating while I reading those culinary cozies.
DeleteLOL on these cozies burning calories.
ReplyDeleteSure did catch my attention because I am deathly afraid of heights.

I felt the same way because I am not remotely a fan of heights myself.
