Constance Gets a Makeover
In 2022, Hallmark released a special edition of that year’s Snowtop Lodge ornament as a promo during their ornament release in October. Despite the fact that I am trying to cut down on the ornaments, I buy, I got both of course. (A collector cutting down on something is a futile exercise.) The changes are small, but this repainted Constance R. Goodwyn ornament is great.
When Hallmark repaints an ornament, they take the original design and give it some new colors. That means the theme has stayed the same. We’ve got Constance holding a puppy that is licking her. She has a big smile on her face. The bottom third of the ornament has a scene with other snowpeople and their dogs out enjoying a winter’s night with the sun setting behind them.
The changes? The puppy this time around is a darker shade than in the original, and the bow around the puppy’s neck is blue. The hat Constance is wearing is now red and white striped with a red brim as well. Best I can tell there aren’t any chances to the scene in the bottom of the ornament.
Yes, the changes are completely superficial. You could easily get either one and be perfectly happy. The only real difference is that the repaint doesn’t have the series marker on the bottom, so if that matters to you, you’ll want to get the regular ornament. Otherwise, you might want to base your decision on the color of the puppy or anything else that appeals to you.
As usual for the series, there is a nice flat base to set the ornament on, so you can put it out as part of a display if you want. The ornament does tip forward ever so slightly, but it’s hardly noticeable when you get tree branches around it. Also, this is typical for the series, so fans won’t notice.
I will remind you that the ornament is made of porcelain, so you will want to make sure it isn’t going to fall and break no matter how you choose to display it.
The cuteness factor of this ornament is off the charts. Due to my allergies, I’m not a huge dog person, but even I see it.
