This week's book is Space Case, the latest Middle Grade mystery from Stuart Gibbs. I'd love to say I'll have it finished for this week's Marvelous Middle Grade Monday, but I've got too much going on in the next few days, so it will probably have to wait a week. So far, I'm really enjoying it, that's for sure.
And really, how can you not love this cover?
See what I mean?
The book starts out like this:
Let's get something straight, right off the bat: Everything the movies have ever taught you about space travel is garbage.
And, from page 56, we find:
"You're gonna have to be way better to survive the next round," Roddy warned me.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try to get a few pages in before bed time.
I agree -- great cover! The opening makes me want to read more and find out why the movies are wrong. Sounds like a fun story.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features BEAUTIFUL RUINS.
The list of things that are wrong is actually fairly fun and, I'm sure, accurate. It's a great way to open the novel.
DeleteSounds quirky and fun. I bet that the middle school kids will find a few laughs inside.

I don't know about middle schoolers, but I'm finding some laughs inside.
DeleteVery cute cover. Your teases worked. I am curious. It looks like a fun read and I'm glad you're enjoyingit so far. Hope you have more time this weekend, if not, enjoy it anyway. :-)

You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteIt is a fun cover! I can only imagine how much the movies have wrong. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat 56 sounds like a dare or a challenge? Uh oh:)
here is my 56 - http://fuonlyknew.com/2014/10/10/the-friday-56-40-the-rain/
Of course, the movies are usually trying to be fantasy mixed in with sci fi, but it still made for a fun part of the book.
DeleteI love the opening line! Already has me instantly intrigued! Thinking about sharing it with my little sister since she might enjoy it! The cover is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

If you do share it with your sister, I hope she enjoys.
DeleteI like that start. It would draw me in.
ReplyDeleteAs I said, this author always has great openings.
DeleteI do love the cover, my favourite covers are graphic art ones. And I love astronauts and space so this is pretty much a great book for me from the outset. I do really like the Beginning as well because it's true! Thanks for sharing :) Hope you have a great weekend!
