Friendly Spooky Halloween Cupcake

When it comes to Halloween, decorations and events can go two ways – dark and truly scary or light and fun spooky.  Hallmark usually goes with the second option, and that extends to Punkin' Kitty, the October entry for the yearlong Keepsake Cupcake series.

This cupcake just screams out Halloween thanks to the colors.  The foil is purple and the majority of the frosting on top is orange.  The cupcake itself?  We have to use our imagination on what color it might be since we don’t get a hint at all, but I’m going to pretend it’s chocolate since black fits into the Halloween color scheme.

We do get black on this cupcake since there is a black cat popping out of the middle of the cupcake.  He’s wearing a blue witch’s hat, too.

As I said at the beginning, this ornament is cute and fun and will appeal to anyone looking for a decoration for Halloween.  The colors are great, and the cat is so cute.  Plus, there are ridges in the orange frosting which make it look even more like the top of a pumpkin.  The little green leaf on the front helps with the illusion.

Now I know I criticized the last ornament in the series because the frosting looked too plastic.  Honestly, it doesn’t look any less like plastic here, but for some reason it doesn’t bother me as much.  Go figure, right?

Being a cupcake, there is a nice flat base on the bottom of the ornament, so it is easy to set this in the optional stand if you want to display the series that way.  You’ll also find the 3 in a Christmas tree on the bottom.

However, if you want to hang it, you’ll find the loop in the top of the cat’s hat.  Not too surprising, the ornament hangs straight.

I’ve never been much of a Halloween fan, so my supply of Halloween decorations is limited.  However, Punkin' Kitty and is well worth making an exception for.

Enjoy the full year of Keepsake Cupcakes.
