March 5th's Weekly TV Thoughts

Three season finales this week.  That seems wrong somehow.  It's only March!

The Equalizer – I don’t normally post about things I didn’t watch, but since I’ve been watching from the beginning, I figured I’d make an exception.  As you know, I’ve been struggling with the lectures we’ve been getting this season.  I realized we were probably half way through the season or so (just guessing), so I thought I’d try to power through, so I could review it, and stop watching at the end of the season.  After the first two scenes of this episode, I gave up.  Both storylines were designed to lecture us.  I’m not saying I disagree with either lecture they were going to give (because I don’t, although I’d take one of the storylines in a different direction than I’m sure they’d go with it), but I do not watch to get lectured.  So I won’t be watching it any more.  I’m thinking Sundays might become movie nights, at least for the next few months.

Superman and Lois – And here come the constant upping the stakes.  I know I was saying last season that I didn’t want them to mess with any of the couples, but I can see what is going on with Lana and Kyle as a logical outflow of what we know about them.  I’m hoping they can work things out, but I’m not hopeful at the moment.  Superman arrest for treason?  And I have to ask what he was even doing there right after the football game.  I liked seeing the light side of Lucy.  I hope we get her back to that before everything is over.  And I’m interested to see where they go with this drug storyline.

Naomi – I’m beginning to tire of this series a little bit.  I know it is going somewhere, but it is going there so slowly.  They keep teasing us with stuff but not really letting the story move forward.  Or at least that is the way it seems now.  Having said that, I hope the guys will start being friends after this.  And I am very curious where they are going to go from that cliffhanger.

Wipeout – I didn’t necessarily recognize the opening obstacles, but the rest were the new obstacles we got the sneak peak of a few weeks ago.  So glad to see them back.  I didn’t pick up on the magician team quitting when John made them “disappear.”  I thought they were just playing around until they stopped talking about them.  (Yes, I was watching while doing reviewing stuff as usual.)  Sorry to see them go since I enjoyed them.  My money was on the husband/wife contractors to be the team to quit.

The Amazing Race – The right three teams made the final leg.  Not that I disliked the father and daughter, but they came in last so many times it wouldn’t have been right.  I was disappointed the friends didn’t win, but they never recovered from missing the elevator clue.  In fact, once they got out of first place, they never really recovered period.  Happy for Pen and Kim, however.  Honestly, I would have been fine with any of those three teams.  Surprised the flight attendants made it that far based on their early efforts, but they really did up their game as the race went along.

Legends of Tomorrow – Parts of that I could see coming.  But parts of it were unpredictable and the result was one very fun wild ride.  Not quite as funny as some of the episodes have been but full of action.  I’m not surprised they decided to write Nate out, his story had gone about as far as it could.  But I’m very sorry to see him go.  Sarah’s pregnancy surprised me.  As did that cliffhanger.  Overall, a good capper to the best season they’ve had in a while.

Batwoman – Action packed finale, not that I’m surprised.  They really wrapped up a lot, and I feel like we could leave the show there.  Yes, even with that cliffhanger.  I love what they are doing with Alice, and Mary’s send off at the end for “Beth” was so great.  Naturally, I’d be back next season to see what they do with her.  Hope that Luke finds another way to commune with his dad, even if it really was an AI.  That was definitely sad.

United States of Al – I actually wasn’t that impressed with the episode.  Especially since I feel like Holly isn’t the end game.  Maybe I’m wrong on that, but I feel like he will go back to his ex.  I did enjoy the last scenes about Hazel’s hair, however.  Those were funny, but the main storyline made me cringe.
