May 15th's Sunday/Monday Post

Welcome to the half way point of May.  Okay, so it's probably really noon on Monday, right?  But since this is a post for Sunday and Monday, that should count for something.  Anyway, hard to believe it's the middle of the month already, isn't it?

As always, I will be linking up this week to the following:

Sunday Post
Sunday Salon
Stacking the Shelves
Mailbox Monday
It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

The fun this week (because work is never fun) was that I got to do Rugged Maniac yesterday.  It's an obstacle/mud run.  Unlike many I do, it was even here in my neck of the woods.  A friend signed up to do it with me at the last minute, which made it even more fun.  We were in an early wave, trying to avoid the heat.  We weren't completely successful, but we missed the worst of it.

Because it is hot here in Southern California.  We started off the week with temps in the 60's, but then on Thursday, they started to climb.  Today, it's in the 90's.  Mind you, I am not complaining.  I'm a hot weather fan.  I love where I live as a result.  Yes, I do have to plan around it for things like mud runs, but I get cold easily, so I'd rather be hot than cold.  And having air conditioning helps tremendously.  I don't think I'd enjoy living here without my AC.

This Past Week on the Blog:

Remember last week when I was debating about what I'd put up on Friday - a Friday post or a movie review.  Surprise!  I did both!

This Coming Week on the Blog:

Sunday - Disney Pin Review: Peter Pan's Flight - Cuckoo for Disney Pins
Monday - Book Review: Murder, She Wrote - Killer on the Court by Jessica Fletcher and Terri Farley Moran
Tuesday - Ornament Review: Duke of Winter
Wednesday - Book Review: Blood Red by Sherri Leigh James
Thursday - TV Show Review: Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Friday - Book Review: The Lessons We Learn by Liz Milliron
Saturday - Weekly TV Thoughts

Book Haul:

Got three books this week.  Two were a surprise.  I had placed pre-orders for Buried in a Good Book by Tamara Berry and A Sprinkle in Time by Dana Mentink.  Both are supposed to be published on the 24th, but my pre-orders shipped early.  I'm definitely not complaining.  I also decided at the last minute to snag an eARC of Smile Beach Murder by Alicia Bessette.  That one came out this past Tuesday, so I'm actually reading an ARC after release date.  That's rare for me.

What I'm Currently Reading:

But not that far behind release date.  That's right, I'm currently reading Smile Beach Murder.  Assuming I make good progress with it on Sunday, I'm aiming to finish it up on Monday.  Then I'll be picking up A Sprinkle in Time.

Have a wonderful week!

  1. Mud runs sound exhausting and fun all at the same time. I am glad you enjoyed yourself and that a friend did it, too.

  3. I feel exactly the same way you do about the weather. I could never live in a place that was mostly cold. On the other hand, I remember how hot it was here when I was a child and we did not have air conditioning.

    A mud run sounds fun!

I am intrigued with the titles of all your new books. I hope you enjoy them all.

  4. I used to be a big hot summer fan but now prefer the spring temperatures. I am a typical Canadian, one day it's too cold and then we are complaining it is too hot!

  5. I've not heard of Rugged Maniac, but it sounds challenging, especially in the heat. I used to get migraines due to the heat but those have lessened and I can finally enjoy summer more. My Sunday Post: https://bonniereadsandwrites.wordpress.com/2022/05/15/sunday-post-4/

  6. A mud run sounds like so much fun! I am spending this summer getting back into shape so I can do fun runs like that. My daughter would have a blast, too.

  7. I have Smile Beach Murder to read. It looks good. I hope you have a great week.

  8. I am just the opposite, not a fan of summers. But the coldest we have here is 14C - so I can be biased. I hope you enjoy the summer!

I hope you have a great week ahead.

  9. Those books look fun. And the mud run sounds fun too. I'm the same with the heat. I need the AC to cool off ha ha but it's nice when the warm weather gets here.

Hope you have a nice weekend,

  13. I feel the same way about the weather, but I live in Wisconsin where we have cold winters. So, when the weather gets warm I don't complain.

I'm looking forward to reading A Sprinkle in Time soon as well and will look forward to your thoughts on it.

    Have a good week!

  14. We've done a similar weather thing with 60s and now almost 90s. I prefer the 60s. OK if you aren't having fun at work, it's time to change work. I am fortunate I could do that until I had my own company and then after I sold it, the same. If I don't enjoy it I find something else to do. But also I am fortunate I enjoy a lot of types of work and don't mind hard work.

  18. A mud run always looks fun but is very much not for me! Glad you enjoyed it! We are in the 90s here but the heat doesn't really bother me too much. I'm not a fan of the super high humidity and mass quantities of mosquitos we get though. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your reading!

  19. In my younger days when I was in better shape, I wanted to try an obstacle/mud run. That's really cool that you got to do it. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  20. I'm so impressed by people like you who can do these obstacle/mud runs! I always think it would be so much fun, but then I remember I have like no perseverance in sport xD It's been unbearably hot here in the Netherlands as well, although it's meant to cool off just a tad this week! I always love it when past-me surprises me with pre-orders I had forgotten about! I hope you enjoy your books! Have a lovely week :)

  21. How did the mud run turn out? We need a picture of that. Heat in the 90s is pretty hot so soon in spring. I like cooler temps ... and we have no AC ... yikes.

  23. My daughter did a team mud run with my sister for charity (pre-covid) and they had a great time! I have to smile every time I see the photos. Glad you got to do one. Hope your week is off to a good start.

  24. The books look good. The mud run sounds like fun. I enjoy the heat and am looking forward to getting some here in Minnesota. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  25. I haven't run in years, but I love fast walking. It's about the best I can do at my age with our heat and humidity. My son and daughter in law like doing Tough Mudder and other endurance events.

    Your books look good!

  26. It's crazy how fast this month is flying by. I've always loved the idea of a mud run.. but since you'll have to run to do it.. It's probably not for me. LOL! Have a great week and happy reading.

  31. I did one mud run and I loved it but I'll pass on doing another one anytime soon. So good on you! Lots of good books on the way! Have a great reading week and stay cool!

  32. We're supposed to have 90 degree weather here in Southern Pennsylvania this weekend. Quite unusual for May but I'll take it! Have a great weekend :)

  33. Nice that you were able to do run with a friend this time. And we are so opposite... I would always rather be cold than hot. (Although that's hard to do here in FL. Ha!)

  34. Sounds like you had fun with the mud run and that's nice you managed to beat the worst the of the heat. We don't have an AC here and I am not a fan of the too warm weather, although I do like early spring when it gets a bit warmer again compared to winter.

Your new books look good! I like cozies, but I haven't read any of those. I am currently making my way through a paranormal cozy mystery ARC that I didn't get to before release day. I hope you have a good week!

  35. It sounds like you had a great week! I like weather in the high 70’s as when it gets too hot I want to sit inside with the AC. Enjoy your new books and your week ahead!
