It’s Time for a Great Concert from Joe Jazz
It’s a little hard to believe, but this year, we are hitting twenty-five Spotlight on Snoopy ornaments. My collecting this series pre-dates my general Hallmark ornament collecting, but I haven’t quite been collecting it the entire time. (I started a few years later, but I’m not sure which one was the first I bought.) Snoopy is ready to celebrate with Jazzy, Snazzy Friends.
That’s right, this year Snoopy is treating us to a jazz concert. He’s sitting at a piano prepared to start playing for us. He’s wearing sun glasses, a red jacket with a black tie, and a black hat with a red ban on it. Woodstock is standing on the piano ready to contribute as well on his bass. He’s wearing matching hat and sun glasses.
Sadly, this ornament doesn’t come with any sound. I’m torn on that. The rest of the series doesn’t include sound, so it matches. However, it would be cool to have a jazz song coming from it. A Christmas song would be natural, but “Linus and Lucy” would be fun as well.
That aside, I do love how it looks. Snoopy and Woodstock look cool, and it’s not something we’ve come close to seeing before. After twenty-five ornaments, that’s hard to find.
I also love the fact that Snoopy is oversized for the piano. It looks a little odd, but when you consider Schroder’s piano, it perfectly fits the Peanuts strip in general. That makes me smile.
With Snoopy sitting at the piano, there’s a large flat surface, so the ornament can sit on its. However, it isn’t completely flat, and the end of the piano sticks up a bit. It’s not enough to make the ornament unstable, but it is worth noting. It’s also not quite as steady as I thought it would be. But as long as you aren’t bumping it, you should be okay.
As you’d expect, you’ll find the 25 in a Christmas tree series marker on the bottom as well.
The ornament does tip slightly when you go to hang it. What surprised me is that it tips side to side and not front to back. Still, it is slight, and when you get it surrounded by tree branches, you won’t notice.
Jazzy, Snazzy Friends is a fun entry to the Spotlight on
Snoopy series. It’s a great way to
celebrate the milestone release in the series.
My sister is a huge Snoopy fan, she'd love this!
