December 9th's Friday Post

It's been a few weeks since I did one of these, so let's dive into another Friday Post.  I will be linking up to:

Book Beginnings
First Line Friday
Friday 56
Book Blogger Hop

Believe it or not, I'm not featuring a mystery this week.  Instead, I have a non-fiction book - Christmas Past by Brian Earl.

I'm going to let the first sentence help introduce this book:

Behind every Christmas tradition is a story - often a forgotten one.

Yes, this book talks about the history of traditions we still celebrate today and even some we've forgotten.  As a Christmas lover, I enjoyed it.

Page 56 finds us in the middle of a chapter on Santa Claus, and we get this gem:

Punishing children isn't exactly saintly.  So in many regions, Saint Nicholas was said to have a servant or companion who did it for him.

Yes, this book has been part of my Christmas reading this year, and my review will be up on Monday.

Now, let's take a look at the Book Blogger Hop for the week.  This week's question is:

Do you have a favorite reading nook?

Not really.  I read in my living room quite a bit, but I will also read in bed.  When I was working in an office, I would read in my car on my lunch breaks, but since I'm working from home now, I don't do that.  Really, I'll read just about anywhere.

That's it from me.  Hope you have a great weekend.

  1. Sounds like an interesting book. I've got one that talks about Christmas traditions. I haven't read it all but it's very interesting.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I like the sound of that book. I can read just about anywhere too, but prefer my comfy recliner in the living room.

  8. Happy Friday!
I'm currently reading Lord Blackwell's Promise by Ashtyn Newbold. It's so good!
"Pausing to catch his breath, Peter leaned against the wall in the corridor."
I hope you have a great weekend! 😀❤📚

  11. What a great nonfiction selection! This sounds interesting. I have a chair in my office that I like to read in but don't as much as I'd like. I'm really mostly an in bed reader as well.

  12. That's a great first line! Today I'm reading A Quilt for Christmas by Melody Carlson. The first line is, "Vera Swanson used to love Christmas." I hope you have a great week!
