February 9th's Friday Post

We've made it to another Friday!  Time for this week's Friday Post, where I will be linking up to:

Book Beginnings
First Line Friday
Friday 56
Book Blogger Hop

This week, I'll be pulling teasers for the first three from Fatal First Edition by Jenn McKinlay.

This is book 14 in her Library Lover's Mysteries.  Obviously, I'm a fan if I've stuck with a series for that long.

Here's how the book begins:

“How’s the windy city?” Nancy Peyton asked.

Maybe not the most exciting beginning, although, since the series is normally set in a small town in Connecticut, it lets us know the setting has changed.  At least for the opening.

Meanwhile, at 56% into the book, we get this exchange:

“We’re just friends,” Nancy said. But there was a wicked twinkle in her eye. “We met when I took the train to Boston for a Red Sox game. He’s a fan as well and helped me get off at the right stop.”
“He is a very nice man,” Lindsey agreed.
“And not a suspect,” Nancy added. “He’d certainly have nothing to gain from murdering a passenger.”
“Or would he?” Paula asked.

Is this mystery man they are talking about a good suspect?  I'll let you read the book to find out.

The official release date is next Tuesday, but I'll be back with my review on Monday.  I hope you'll stop back by then to see what I thought of this one.

Meanwhile, let's close things out with this week's Book Blogger Hop.  This week's question is:

Do you post Happy Publication Day posts for books you read?

If I am reviewing the book on publication day, I will mention it when promoting it on social media.  However, I don't do a separate happy publication day for every book I read.  I also don't mention it on my blog outside of Friday or Sunday/Monday posts.  I kind of figure my review is good enough.

If I regularly posted outside of release week or very far in advance, I might change the policy.

Honestly, I am not doing a good job of keeping up with everything else going on in my life.  Trying to add this in would be just a little too much.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I agree, Mark. I feel like with all I have going on as it is, I just can't remember all of the publication dates. Have a relaxing weekend ☕📚🐉🤗

  2. An interesting sounding book.

I post Publication Day posts for my Blog Tour books if I remember but they aren't a priority.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. My first line comes from 8 Down by Kimberley Woodhouse:

Down, 8. Six letters: Number 6 on the periodic table.

    November 25, 9:47 a.m. Fairbanks, Alaska

Nothing could have prepared her for the dead body at the crime scene.

  5. Always my question as I'm reading a mystery and someone makes a statement that someone couldn't be the killer. I look forward to reading this one!

That was my first thought too--I have enough to remember without adding publication date posts to the mix.

I hope you have a great weekend!

  6. I really enjoyed this one! I hope you're loving it too. I don't do those posts either. I'm treading water with what I've got going on as it is!

  8. Not doing a good job keeping up with everything else going on in your life sounds like me! This series was already on my TBR list, but I especially like the look and sound of this one since it involves a train. I just love train scenes. Have a great weekend. :)
