What's on My Nightstand - March 2013 Edition

It's that time again - time for the March edition of What's on My Nightstand hosted by the folks at 5 Minutes for Books.  (And I even got the correct year in my post's title this time.)

Over the weekend, I finished reading Joni & Ken: An Untold Love Story.  I would have enjoyed it as it was, but God used the struggles that this couple went through to show me some things I need to be working on in my own life.  And keep in mind, I'm single, so I wasn't expecting anything like this.  You can read more in my full review.

Currently, I'm just under a quarter of the way through Princess Elizabeth's Spy by Susan Elia MacNeal.  This is the second book about a woman in World War II England.  I enjoyed the first, and so far I'm enjoying the second.

On deck?  Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger.  A YA fantasy novel, this one sounds like fun.  And with as much as I enjoyed her debut novel for middle grade readers, I'm looking forward to it.

    1. I read the first book in January. Just got an arc of the third from Amazon Vine this afternoon, so I need to read it soon.

  2. I'm holding off on reading your review of Joni & Ken but only because I'm about to snatch it up off Amazon and read it for myself. Then I'll have to come back and read your thoughts. :D I am so glad you listed that one earlier. I'm excited to read it.

  3. I just pre-ordered the Joni and Ken book after watching a video of her speaking at a recent NRB convention and she mentioned some struggles they'd had. I always enjoy her -- she is always so genuine. Amazon says it's not being released til August though -- you must've had an advanced copy? I can't wait.

    1. August? I thought it came out in April. Either way, yes, I did get an advanced copy from Amazon Vine.

    1. Did something about Elizabeth attracted you? :)

It's the second in a series, and I enjoyed the first one very much. So far so good with this one, too.

  5. I have Mr. Churchill's Secretary on my nightstand list for this month. I guess I should put Princess Elizabeth's Spy on hold for when I finish.

    1. I guess it depends on how quickly you like to get to the next in a series. You'll definitely want to read it. I just like to space things out a bit and not read them back to back.
