This week, I'm reading an ARC of Murder With Ganache by Lucy Burdette. This is actually the first in the series I've read even though it is book four. The book will come out the beginning of February, but you can read my review some time next week (I'm only about 60 pages into it right now).
So, let's get to it, shall we? The book starts like this:
Faster than a speeding KitchenAid mixer, I scraped the freshly squeezed lime juice and lime zest into the bowl and beat the batter to a creamy pale green.
Yes, I'm already drooling.
And, from page 56, we find:
"But what if he's in trouble?" Allison asked, her worried gaze flickering from my father's from back to me.
So that my first Friday Meme post for 2014. See you back next week.
That's a cute opening. I wonder who is in trouble and why. Came over from The Friday 56 and became a new follower. Good luck with your reading this year.
ReplyDeleteI used that quote from page 56 just to make you wonder. ;)
DeleteThanks for the follow.
Love a good cozy! I have read another book by this author, so I'm game. Enjoy! Here's MY FRIDAY POST
ReplyDeleteI'd read some of the books she'd written under before she took a pen name, but I'm really enjoying this one more than I did those.
DeleteWow I love the first sentence very vivid and interesting. Great way to start. Hope the rest of the book is as good. I just love ARC's when I get one it makes me feel like a giddy child that has candy no one else has.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week
Caroline
The book has been better than I was expecting - completely enjoyable. The first sentence's promise has been met.
DeleteSounds like a fun read! That opening made my mouth water!

My Book Beginnings
Very delish, even if I don't have a KitchenAid Mixer. Mine's a Mix Master.
DeleteOops!! I left the wrong link previously.
ReplyDeleteHere is my correct post!
Thanks for correcting it.
DeleteSounds like a very good dish. I love how she works the Kitchen Aide mixed in.
ReplyDeleteI did have to laugh at the "product placement." Is that even a thing in a novel?
DeleteI love how it starts….I wonder what she's baking???
ReplyDeleteLinking from Friday 56,
Ricki Jill
I must admit I did spoil what she was making in my review, which was posted on Wednesday. But it's not anything critical to the plot, so I'm not feeling guilty about it at all.
