WALL-E Decks the Planet One Tree at a Time

As each of the Pixar movies has been released, Hallmark has released at least one ornament for them.  (Okay, there's one exception, Up.  And I need to find something to represent that movie on my tree.)  Some of these ornaments are just inspired by scenes from the film, but Deck the Planet!, the ornament tied to WALL-E, actually gets in the Christmas spirit.

The movie follows the misadventures of WALL-E, a small garbage compacting robot left behind to clean up Earth so that humans can come back and repopulate it.  And he is the main feature of the ornament.  He's basically a yellow cube with hands, a head that looks like binoculars, and tread over wheels for feet.  For a robot, he's rather cute.

What makes this ornament extra special is the Christmas touch I mentioned earlier.  It's not just WALL-E, but WALL-E is tangled up in some Christmas lights.  It's just a small string of 10 or so, but it adds a nice touch that makes me smile.  Sadly, the lights are completely artificial and therefore don't light up; even so, it's a touch I love.

WALL-E is pretty average size for a Hallmark ornament.  He two feet provide a nice base that leaves him level if you set him out on a shelf or table.  There's a little ring for hanging him in the top of his head.  Because that ring is in the back half of the ornament, WALL-E tips slightly forward, but I'm talking very slight.  Unless you are paying strict attention when you pick him up off a table, you'll never notice.

This ornament was originally released in 2008, the year the movie came out.  Since the movie was such a hit, this ornament was as well, selling out well before Christmas.  As a result, this is one of the harder ones to track down today, and the prices reflect that.  If you do some hunting, you may find a bargain, but I would expect to pay $30 or more if you really want it and can't wait until you find a bargain.

This is one of the more valuable ornaments in my collection, but I love it because WALL-E is so cute in it.  If you are a fan of the movie, Deck the Planet! will be a hit.

Original Price: $15.00
